17-Year-Old Charged in 11-Year-Old Boy's Shooting

Chicago - A teen was charged with reckless conduct after his gun discharged, hitting an 11-year-old boy as they were playing with the firearm late Monday at an Englewood neighborhood home on the South Side.

Finas Morgan, 17, of the 6100 block of South Marshfield Avenue, was charged with one felony count of reckless conduct, and unlawful use of a weapon and having no valid firearm owner¿s identification card, according to police.
Morgan, who was charged as an adult, is scheduled to appear court later Thursday.

About 11:30 p.m. Monday, Morgan and an 11-year-old boy were playing with Morgan's semi-automatic handgun when it discharged -- striking the boy in a home in the 6100 block of South Marshfield Avenue.

Morgan allegedly became scared, picked up the gun and threw it into a neighbor's yard, where police found it, according to a police report.

The child was taken to University of Chicago Comer Children¿s Hospital, initially in critical condition, police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines said. The boy suffered wounds to the abdomen, back and arm.

The shooting occurred at the home of a friend of the child, police said.

The boy¿s 23-year-old brother was shot in the head on Sept. 18 in the 4600 block of North Kenmore Avenue. As of earlier this week, he remained hospitalized at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.

This was Morgan¿s 17th arrest.

what is a 17 yr old doing with a gun anyway? crap like this is the reason im against firearms but thats another issue.
