Evansville, IN – A toddler girl was seen in the hospital early Friday morning suffering from second- and third-degree burns to her face, neck and shoulders, and according to police, her mother’s boyfriend is responsible for the injuries. Authorities claim 28-year-old Kyle Hankins poured boiling water on the child's face as she slept.

The child’s mother, Krystal Lockridge, told police Kyle showed up at her apartment at about 10:00 Thursday evening – the couple spent about an hour together before Krystal fell asleep with her other two children. At about 2:00 a.m., she woke to the sound of 2-year-old Kayleigh screaming.

Krystal said she found her daughter sitting in a chair in the living room with burns on her face. Kyle reportedly told her Kayleigh had peed the bed while she was sleeping and he decided to bathe her. He ran the tub, plopped her in it and left the bathroom, returning only after she started screaming.

According to the arrest affidavit, Kayleigh’s bed and pillow were wet; only one side of her face was burned; the burn patterns show that she was likely sucking her thumb when doused. And on top of that, had she been sitting in a tub full of hot water, her feet, legs and butt would have been scalded.

Kyle is being held without bond, charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, battery on a child and neglect of a dependent. Police say this is his fourth arrest for battery since 2005, two of those cases involved Krystal.

This was not even done in a fit of anger. He took the time to boil water, giving him plenty of time to think about what he was doing.

They need to arrest the mothers who endanger their children by bringing this type of man home with them and exposing their children to them.

What is with these abused women who think they can change the spots on the leopard and that things will get better. Get it through your thick skulls that it NEVER does...Dumb ass!

Kyle Hankins

There's no shame in making a poor choice about who you sleep with, the horror is in not learning from your mistake. Kyle Hankins is what we generally refer to as a worthless shithead, which you might note from the smug look of blithe, dumbass indifference on his face. Around the time this photo was taken, 2-year old Kayleigh Lockridge was in a Cincinnati Shriner's Hospital burn unit after Hankins poured boiling water on her head.

The 28-year old told police that Kayleigh had peed the bed, and that he had put her in the bath to clean her up, then left the room, and the water must've scalded her. Of course that didn't line up very well with burns on one side of her face and neck or the fact that the bed and pillow were wet. Police said the child will never look the same.

We're not sure what kind of mother this woman is, but we may have an indication in that when she awoke to the screaming child and discovered the burns, she called the father to pick her up and take her to the hospital. He should've brought the boyfriend with him -- tied to the back bumper, so he could kick his sorry ass after they got there. The other thing worth noting is that paperweight tough guy Hankins has been arrested for battery four times in the last five years, twice with Krystal Lockridge, Kayleigh's mother. Nice job. Now your child has a permanent reminder of her mom's shitty test in men.
