Crystal Lake teen reported missing


Crystal Lake police are working with other law enforcement agencies to locate a local teen with Asperger syndrome reported missing late Tuesday by his family.

Police said Trenton Johnson, 17, went missing at around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. He is a McHenry County College student with Asperger’s, a form of autism.

Johnson is without his medication, authorities said.

“It’s imperative he is located,” Deputy Chief Eugene Lowery said. “If he doesn’t receive his medication, it could jeopardize his health.”

Preliminary information gathered by police shows that the teen might have left the state or gone to southern Illinois to visit a friend.

Johnson drives a maroon Honda Accord with Illinois license plates. He was last seen wearing a brown baseball cap, dark brown leather jacket with a fur-lined hood, blue jeans and black gym shoes.

He is described as being 6 feet tall and 160 pounds with blue eyes and brown hair.

CRYSTAL LAKE – Police are looking for a teenager with a developmental disability who was reported missing after he left his home Tuesday evening.Trenton Johnson, 17, of Crystal Lake, left his house at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday after a disagreement with his parents, Crystal Lake Police Commander Mike Brichetto said.Johnson, who has Asperger’s syndrome, went to a friend’s house in Nokomis, about an hour south of Springfield. Authorities were not able to catch up with Johnson in Nokomis, Brichetto said.Asperger’s syndrome is a form of autism, a developmental disorder characterized by impaired interaction and communication skills. Police said Johnson did not have his medication with him.Johnson is white, 6 feet tall and 160 pounds. He has brown hair and blue eyes.He last was seen wearing a brown baseball cap, black gym shoes, blue jeans and a dark bomber jacket with a fur collar. Johnson has sparse facial hair, police said in a news release.

A 17-year-old Crystal Lake resident was found safe after police issued a release earlier this week stating that the teen was missing.The Crystal Lake Police requested assistance in locating a 17-year-old juvenile who had been missing since Nov. 16 stating that Trent Johnson may possibly be en route to a destination outside of Illinois.According to police, Johnson has Aspergers Syndrome which may affect his ability to cope and care for himself on his own.The release issued by police this morning stated "Trenton Johnson has been located safe and unharmed.
