Two children who were found dead near their mother's body on
Thanksgiving had lethal doses of an anti-anxiety drug in their bodies.
The autopsy findings bolster investigators' belief that the deaths of
Marissa Morgan, 5; Izaiah Trevino, 5 months; and Sharon Trevino, 28,
were a double homicide-suicide.
Police discovered their bodies on the night of Nov. 25 in their home
in Lebanon. Police say the mother apparently shot herself in the head.
The Laclede County coroner says autopsies revealed lethal amounts of
alprazolam in both children. The drug, with the brand name Xanax, is
typically prescribed for anxiety and panic disorders.
Coroner Steve Murrell says he doesn't know how the drug was
administered. Murrell says neither child had visible signs of
violence. Murrell believes the deaths were about two hours before the
bodies were found.
