JONTE "Doe" - 2 yo/ Accused: William Detillo - Pittsburgh PA
Man charged with beating toddler
Friday, January 07, 2011
Police Thursday night charged a Knoxville man with aggravated assault
and child endangerment after his girlfriend's 2-year-old son, who was
under his care, suffered head trauma and other injuries.
Pittsburgh police detectives spent hours questioning William Detillo,
26, about the boy's injuries after officers were called to the home in
the 300 block of Arabella Street about 6:45 a.m. on reports that the
child had fallen out of bed and was not breathing. The boy was taken to
Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC where he was listed in
critical condition and where doctors discovered him suffering from brain
and abdominal trauma and bruising to his face and body. The injuries
were inconsistent, police said, with Mr. Detillo's claim that the boy
had fallen out of bed.
Mr. Detillo is the boyfriend of the child's mother. He said he got up
to drive his girlfriend to work and took the child with him. He dropped
the woman off and returned home with the child, whom he was to look
after. About an hour later, police said, Mr. Detillo called 911 to
report that the child fell.
Mr. Detillo was held in the Allegheny County Jail on $200,000
