CHICAGO HEIGHTS, Ill. —
Authorities have ruled the death of a 3-month-old baby in Chicago's southern suburbs as a homicide.
The Cook County medical examiner's office says baby boy Aaron Sweatt of Park Forest
suffered multiple injuries, blunt force trauma and child abuse.
The Chicago Tribune reports that authorities say Chicago Heights
police received a call Thursday from the Illinois Department of
Children and Family Services about the boy, who was being treated at a
hospital. The medical examiner says the baby was pronounced dead Friday

Parents of infant who died under investigation for abuse
January 15, 2011
State authorities are investigating the parents of a 3-month-old boy who died last week of multiple rib fractures and hemorrhaging of the brain, which on Saturday was ruled a homicide by the Cook County medical examiner's office.
Aaron Sweatt was injured in an incident believed to have taken place at a home in the 1600 block of Ashland Avenue in Chicago Heights, according to the medical examiner, which found that his injuries were from blunt force trauma.
Chicago Heights police would not release information on whether anyone is being questioned in Aaron's death. But Jimmie Whitelow, a spokesman for the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, said the boy's parents are being investigated for allegations of child abuse.
DCFS has had no prior contact with the family, Whitelow said, adding that another child in the home has been placed with relatives.
Aaron was pronounced dead at 12:17 p.m. Friday in Advocate Hope Children's Hospital in Oak Lawn, according to the medical examiner's office.
