"Baby Doe" WILLIAMSON - 6 months/ Fingers chewed by rat - Moundsville (S of Wheeling) WV

A Moundsville woman was arrested Tuesday after a month-long investigation found her 6-month-old child was injured when its fingers were chewed by a rat.
Jessica Williamson, 23, of Tom's Ridge was arrested by Marshall County sheriff's deputies and charged with child neglect resulting in bodily injury. According to Marshall County Chief Deputy Kevin Cecil, the 6-month-old child suffered injuries to the tips of several fingers on the right hand after being bitten by a rat.
"The child was taken to the emergency room, and the doctors there contacted the Department of Health and Human Resources, who then contacted us," Cecil said, adding the investigation took almost a month because officers were awaiting medical reports from doctors.
"Those reports helped us determine the extent of the child's injuries," he said, adding the report was received Friday.
Williamson appeared for a non-criminal hearing in Marshall County Circuit Court earlier Tuesday, which also included officials from the DHHR. She was arrested following that hearing and arraigned Tuesday afternoon in Marshall County Magistrate Court. Bond was set at $5,000.
The child is in the custody of another adult, Cecil said.
