KWPP School Leader Shawna Wells' message about Chelsea Ramsey - 1/26/2011
by KIPP Philadelphia Schools on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at 5:16pm
Hello Team and Family-
I write tonight with very good news. Our community has been closely following the disappearance of KWPP student Chelsea Ramsey. This evening, Chelsea was found by the Philadelphia Police Department. The police are now fully investigating her case to understand why she was missing and who was involved in her disappearance. We have a great deal to learn about this case and are looking forward to gaining more clarity on what exactly happened.
For now, we are happy that our student has returned home, and we are grateful that so many members of our team and family were willing to help us find Chelsea. Thank you so much for the love and support not just for Chelsea but for all the students and teachers at KIPP West Philadelphia Prep. As a community, we should be prepared for Chelsea to need time to adjust back into her life. This may mean that she does not return to KWPP right away. We are committed to making sure Chelsea gets all the help and support she needs in the coming weeks.
It has obviously been a trying nine days for our team and family. Each day, I was motivated and grateful for the unity that was shown throughout our community. Tonight, we have many people to thank for the safe return of our student.
