REBECCA COLLINS-FISHER and BRIAN ORTIZ MOLINA - Autistic Teens - Wellington (west of West Palm Beach) FL
Wellington FL ----An autistic teenager and
her boyfriend are missing and law enforcement agencies are asking for
help finding them. Rebecca Collins-Fisher, who will turn 16
Wednesday, and Brian Ortiz-Molina, 14, both live in Wellington and were
last seen early Monday, according to Palm Beach County Sheriff's
spokesman Deputy Eric Davis.
Sheriff's deputies and dogs were out
Tuesday afternoon searching the area where the pair were last seen and
spots where their parents thought they might go, but the search came up
empty, Davis said.Wendy Elgouhary, Rebecca's mother, said both
teenagers have Asperger's syndrome, a high-functioning form of autism."I
am just terrified," she said.Elgouhary was the last person to
see the two at about 8 a.m. Monday, as she was driving down South Shore
Boulevard. They were walking together on the sidewalk in the rain. When
she pulled over, they jumped over a fence, she said. Both had
been at Wellington High School Monday morning and then left, she said. The
family came down because of her husband's job, and were supposed to
return to Maine in June. But Rebecca liked it here and didn't want to
return, Elgouhary said. She has been out with Brian's family
searching. No one answered the door Tuesday afternoon at the home of
Brian's father, Joquin Ortiz.Brian was first reported missing to
the Palm Beach County School District, according to a sheriff's office
news release.Although Elgouhary said they found some information
on Brian's Facebook page, which has been turned over to investigators,
she would not elaborate what it said. But she did indicate the two were
talking about going away. She criticized the sheriff's office for
not taking the case seriously enough. But the sheriff's office's
Davis said, "We are doing everything we can."The sheriff's office
has put information on the two into the missing persons database, and
searched with dogs and helicopters. They have also contacted both Palm
Tran and Tri-Rail.Brian's relatives could not be immediately
reached for comment.Rebecca is described as 6-foot-1 and 200
pounds. Brian is 5-10 to 6-feet tall with an "average build."Anyone
with information is asked to call sheriff's officials at (561) 688-3400.

Two teens missing since Monday were found by Hallendale Beach Police.
Brian Ortiz-Molina, 14, and his girlfriend, Rebecca Collins-Fisher,
who is 16 today, were last seen at about 8:00 a.m. Monday walking along
South Shore Boulevard in Wellington.
Rebecca's mother, Wendy Elgouhary, said "I'm just terrrified. It's
something that unless you have a child or had a child that's gone
missing, you can't explain it."
Elgouhary told investigators that her daughter is slightly autistic,
but fully functional.
The Sheriff's Office said the teens attend special education classes
at Wellington High and have been dating for several weeks.

Re: REBECCA COLLINS-FISHER and BRIAN ORTIZ MOLINA - Autistic Teens - Wellington (west of West Palm Beach) FL
Two autistic teens missing since Monday have been found safe. The
Wellington High School students were found in the Hallandale Beach area.
Authorities say Rebecca Collins-Fisher, 15, and Brian Ortiz-Molina, 14,
were apparently staying at a friend's house about 50 miles away. The teens have Asperger's syndrome, a high-functioning form of autism.
They had been last seen walking in the rain. When Wendy Elgouhary,
Rebecca's mother, saw them walking down the street the pair jumped over a
fence and ran. Palm Beach County sheriff's deputies and dogs
searched several sites for the two on Tuesday but were unsuccessful.
Detectives said there was evidence the pair had planned to run away
together. According to the Asperger Syndrome Coalition of the
United States, the onset of AS is later than what is typical in autism —
or at least it is recognized later. Many kids are diagnosed after age
3, with most diagnosed between the ages of 5 and 9. The
condition is characterized by poor social interactions, obsessions, odd
speech patterns, and other peculiar mannerisms.
