Mother charged in 1-year-old’s death
BELLFLOWER (AP) — A 19-year-old Missouri woman is charged with
involuntary manslaughter in the death of her 1-year-old son, who was
found with blisters on much of his body.
Sara Swarringim of Bellflower has been jailed since her arrest on Jan. 27.
KXEO reports that a probable cause statement said Swarringim told a
sheriff’s deputy that she left the boy in a bathtub for five to 10
minutes while she tended to another child. She said when she returned,
she found the boy unresponsive and not breathing.
The statement said the deputy found at least 10 incidents were
Swarringim was reported to state officials for alleged mistreatment of
her children.
She remains in the Montgomery County Jail on $100,000 bond. An attorney status hearing is set for Feb. 24.
