WESH-Channel 2’s Bob Kealing asked in a report tonight, because Chief Judge Belvin Perry has ruled that MySpace entries attributed to Anthony are relevant to the case. She is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee.
What about those MySpace entries? ”Gigantic. If none of that existed, what would you be looking at?” veteran attorney Jeff Deen told Kealing.
But Deen, who offers analysis for the NBC affiliate, cautioned that the MySpace postings will need to be authenticated.
Tim Coombs, a social media professor at the University of Central Florida, underscored what a big deal social media could be in the case. Other people have lost their jobs for missing work, then posting their true whereabouts, Coombs told Kealing.”But nothing at this level,” Coombs added of a first-degree murder trial.
In other Anthony news today, WFTV-Channel 9 reported that Amy Huizenga, former best friend to Anthony, was deposed today by the defense team.
In another WESH report, Kealing studied news coverage of the Anthony case around the state. Judge Perry has been tracking the coverage in determining where he’ll draw the jurors. Kealing noted, according to the company Vocus, that the Orlando market generated 58 percent of the Anthony coverage statewide in the past month. The Tampa-St. Pete market delivered nearly 18 percent. Jacksonville and West Palm Beach each produced 5 percent.
