Authorities are searching for a missing 13-year-old Hesperia girl
whose family fears may have fled with a person she met online, officials
said.
Jessie Bender is a student at Cedar Middle School and was last seen early Monday morning.


“We were up late having a good time, laughing and hugging each other
and playing,” Melissa Bender, the teen’s distraught mother said. “She
gave me a kiss on the cheek and said she was going to bed.”
A few hours later, Melissa Bender heard a noise downstairs, went to investigate and found Jessie in the kitchen.
“She told me she was getting a drink of water,” the mother said.
“That was the last time I saw her until we all woke up at 6:45 in the
morning and she was gone.”
Jessie is about 5 feet 2 inches tall and 120 pounds, with green eyes and brown, shoulder-length hair.

Authorities are continuing their search Sunday for a missing teen believed to have run off with someone she met on the internet.

13-year-old Jessie Bender, a student at Cedar Middle School in Hesperia,
was last seen in the early hours morning of Feb. 22. Her mother
Melissa Bender said she saw Jessie late in the evening after she heard
her in the kitchen, getting a glass of water.

Melissa said that Jessie had been late night chatting with a man she met
on the internet. "He was the last person she spoke to at 1:47 in the
morning," she told KTLA. When Melissa went to wake her daughter up for
school at 6:45 a.m. Tuesday, she was gone.

Investigators traced the number of the person, who may be a child
predator, to a phone number out of Chicago. "I don't know who he is,"
Bender said. "He claims that he doesn't have her, but I don't believe
it."

Jessie is 5-feet 2-inches and 120 pounds with green eyes and brown shoulder-length hair.

"Jessie, please come back home. You're not in trouble. We really miss you," Bender said.

---I hate to be a prude but I have to agree with Kiwi. I see young teens some pre-teens wearing shorts with "Hottie" and "Prime" scrawled across the buns. I cannot see where this is appropriate "public" attire. For a perv on the edge, it might just be the thing that pushes him to act on his fantasy.
Young girls should present themselves as such. Not hos hanging out on the corner.

(CBS) HESPERIA, Calif. - Police are searching for 13-year-old Jessie Bender, who investigators believe may have fled with an online child predator.

The middle-school student, from Hesperia, Calif., was last seen on Tuesday, Feb. 22.

Her mother told Los Angeles station KTLA that Jessie had been chatting with a man she met on the internet on the night she went missing.

"He was the last person she spoke to at 1:47 in the morning," Melissa Bender told the station.

Investigators traced the number of the person to a phone number in Chicago. According o KTLA, police believe the man may be a child predator.

"I don't know who he is," the mother told KTLA. "He claims that he doesn't have her, but I don't believe it."

Jessie is 5-feet 2-inches and 120 pounds with green eyes and brown shoulder-length hair.

HESPERIA, Calif. — San Bernardino County authorities are searching
for a 13-year-old girl who has been missing for a week after arguing
with her mother about a family trip to Pakistan.
The Sheriff's Department said Monday that Jesse Marie Bender was last seen
at her Hesperia home around midnight Feb. 22. Her mother said the girl
was in the kitchen getting a glass of water. In the morning, the girl was gone.
The Sheriff's Department says it appears that she left willingly
as some of her belongings were missing and there is no evidence of foul play.
Her mother said that her daughter was upset because
she did not want to go on a two-month-vacation to Pakistan.
Investigators planned to interview one of Jesse's Internet contacts to ascertain her whereabouts.

The parents of a California 13-year-old are under investigation after the girl told police she was being forced to go to Pakistan for an arranged marriage.
The girl, Jesse Marie Bender,
disappeared for more than a week and prompted a nationwide search after
her mother, Melissa Bender, told police that her daughter had run off
with someone she met on Facebook.
Friends and neighbors in the high-desert community of Hesperia launched a
desperate search -- only to discover Wednesday that Jesse was being
hidden from her mother and Pakistani stepfather by other family members.
Bender, who was described as an honors student in the eighth grade at
Cedar Middle School, was taken in by child protective services along
with her three siblings as authorities decide whether to charge the
parents, according to San Bernardino County Sheriff's office.
Jesse went missing on Feb. 22. She was discovered with her uncle and
grandmother in nearby Apple Valley on March 2. No arrests have been
made.
"There is nothing new at this time," said San Bernardino County
Sheriff's Department spokesperson Rachel Walker. "The report has been
forwarded to the district attorney's office for their review."
Jesse and her younger brother John had been living with their uncle,
Michael Bender, who is their mother's brother and was not married. The
family also included their disabled grandmother, Mary Bender, according
to neighbors.
"Michael takes care of her and the children," said a 33-year-old
neighbor who lives on his street and did not want to be identified.
"He's a really great guy and works really hard to support all of them."
She said Bender was in school and worked nights.
"I actually give him a lot of credit," she said of reports that he had
hidden Jesse when the girl thought she might have to go to Pakistan.
Several calls to Melissa, Michael and their mother, Mary Bender, were not returned to ABCNews.com today.
The children's mother was married to a Pakistani man who identified
himself to reporters as "Mo." He was not the children's father.
"The mother generally doesn't live here and came back a few months ago,"
said the neighbor. "The kids are raised by Michael, their uncle. Jessie
is a great girl -- a really sweet girl. She plays with my twins all the
time."
The neighbor said she was "really taken aback" when they learned that Jesse had been found hiding with her uncle.
She said she had even joined the search and arranged to have photos of Jesse printed on Domino's Pizza boxes.

People who helped search for a California girl reported missing by her
family said Thursday that they were outraged to learn the 13-year-old's
family gave authorities misleading information as she hid to avoid an
alleged arranged marriage in Pakistan.
A neighbor of 13-year-old Jesse Bender said he felt tricked by the
girl's family, who San Bernardino County sheriff's investigators said
reported that she may have run off with a sexual predator.
"There are a lot of people in the neighborhood who feel betrayed,
sickened and disgusted," Ryan Halstrum, 23, told the Victorville Daily
Press.
Melissa Bender reported her daughter missing from the family's home in the desert city of Hesperia on Feb. 22.
She initially said her daughter was upset about having to go on a long
vacation to Pakistan, where Bender's boyfriend is from, before she
disappeared. Several days later, she told detectives that she was
worried her daughter may have run away with somebody she met on
Facebook.
Her statement prompted a national kidnapping probe involving several law
enforcement agencies. Friends and neighbors passed out fliers and tried
to spread the word on the Internet.
On Wednesday, investigators found Jesse safely hiding at a hotel in the
neighboring town of Apple Valley with the help of a relative who didn't
want her to go to Pakistan.
"I think it's shameful what that mother did and for the family member
not to come forward and tell the police what he knew," Maryann Sands of
Victorville said. "He could've saved everyone a lot of time and grief."
Jesse and her three siblings were taken into child protective custody,
and detectives are trying to determine whether she was going to be taken
abroad for marriage, sheriff's spokeswoman Arden Wiltshire said.
"There is a concern for all the children," Wiltshire said Thursday. "If
this is possible it was going to occur with one, there is a concern for
all of them."No arrest has been made. Sheriff's officials say the case has been
forwarded to the district attorney's office to determine whether any
charges will be filed.
