LABRAIYA HUFF - 10 Months (2004) - Mesa AZ

A Mesa woman has been sentenced to life in prison for the 2004 death of her baby daughter.
Prosecutors say 26-year-old Shawnte Shuree Jones will have to serve 35 years of her sentence before she can apply for parole.
A Maricopa County Superior Court judge on Friday also sentenced Jones to a consecutive 17-year prison term for child abuse.
Jones went on trial late last year on felony counts of first-degree murder and child abuse.
She originally was arrested shortly after
10-month-old Labraiya Huff was found injured and unconscious in Jones'
apartment in February 2004. Authorities say the baby was pronounced dead
at a hospital.
An autopsy report indicated the girl died
from blunt force trauma. Mesa police say the baby weighed only 10 pounds
and appeared malnourished.
