Casey Anthony: Who might tell her story?

Who other than Casey Anthony might testify about the trauma in her life?
WESH-Channel 2 tonight speculated about “a theory of the defense” advanced in new court papers. Like many other developments in the long-running case, the latest development is murky and open to interpretation. The speculation also raises the idea of more drama at the trial, which starts next month.
WFTV-Channel 9 reported the story Tuesday night and explained that the defense was trying to introduce comments that Anthony made to defense team mental-health experts. The defense wants someone other than Anthony to take the witness stand.
“We have no idea who,” WFTV’s Kathi Belich said. “They are trying different tactics to get that testimony in some way, some how.”
WESH’s Bob Kealing expanded on the idea tonight. Those mental-health experts are no longer on the defense list, but the defense says that what Anthony told them “is highly relevant and should be admissible,” Kealing said.
Anthony is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee.
Localy attorney Richard Hornbsy, who provides analysis for WESH, said another person could testify about Casey’s life if that other person has firsthand knowledge.
“The defense team can get that information to the jury without putting Casey Anthony on the stand or opening her up to cross examination,” Kealing added.
In a later newscast, Hornsby said the most likely candidates to take the stand would be George or Cindy Anthony, Casey’s parents. Kealing added that Lee Anthony, Casey’s brother, could weigh in on “family dysfuntion” that might explain why Casey Anthony didn’t turn to her parents in crisis moment.
Would Chief Judge Belvin Perry allow someone else to tell Anthony’s story? That could be a trial highlight.
WFTV analyst Bill Sheaffer explained the stakes: “They’re desperate to have her statements come into evidence without putting her on the witness stand because they don’t want her cross-examined by the state.”
How would it go if Anthony was cross-examined? “They would tear her up in a New York minute,” Sheaffer said.
