SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. (WSVN) -- A pair of South Florida teens
have vanished without a trace, and now police and family members are
concerned.The families of 17-year-old Nicole Dones and her
18-year-old boyfriend Jackson Powell are urging the public for help
finding them.The couple was last seen leaving Dones' home along
Southwest 116th Street and 87th Avenue Monday. "We just want them home,"
said Powell's mother, Patricia Powell. "We want somebody who has seen
them to let us know. If they see them anywhere, to let us know.""You
know, my daughter has never been away from home like this, OK?" said
Dones' father, Angel Dones, "never lost communication with us ever, and

Police in Florida are searching for two missing teenagers believed to
have run away together because their families disapproved of their relationship.

Nicole Dones, 17, and Jackson Powell, 18 attended their senior prom on
April 16 and disappeared two days later.

The Miami-Dade police, leading the pursuit, do not think the missing
teens are in any danger. “We just believe that it’s a modern day Romeo and Juliet,” said Detective Edna Hernandez.

"We never forbid our daughter from seeing Jackson," Nicole's mother, Margie Chavez
told People magazine. "We just didn't want her to lose focus on school."

police have described as a "modern day Romeo and Juliet." Nicole Dones,
17, and 18-year-old Jackson Wayne Powell, have been missing since April
18. Pictures: Modern Romeo and Juliet sought by families, police"Every night that passes it's a little more desperate for us," says Margie Chavez, Nicole's mother, reports local station WTVJ. "With all this uncertainty comes a lot of fear." Miami-Dade
police say they have no leads on the couple's whereabouts, but as the
couple has no credit cards, police believe they should be running out of
cash, according to the station. The couple have reportedly turned off their cell phones so they could not be traced and have not contacted anyone via Facebook. "It's tough to sleep," says Jackson's father Wayne Powell to WTVJ. "Your mind races about a lot of scenarios." Powell
had been trying to get his son to ease off of the relationship for a
little bit, as his son's performance at school had suffered, because of
how much energy he was investing in the relationship, reports The Miami Herald. Nicole's parents had reportedly tried doing the same.
The parents of the teens have hired a private investigator and are offering a $5,000 reward.
Police
say Nicole is about 5-feet-5-inches tall and weighs 120 pounds, with
brown hair and brown eyes. Jackson Powell is described as
5-feet-11-inches tall and weighing 155 pounds, with light brown hair and
blue eyes.

Missing Teens Home, "Shaken" After Ga. Arrest
Jackson Powell and Nicole Dones have been missing for more than two weeks

Two lovestruck teens are home "shaken" but safe after they ran away from home to be together, a parent said Monday.

Margie Chavez, mother of 17-year-old Nicole Dones, confirmed that both her daughter and 18-year-old Jackson Wayne Powell were "in one piece." She wouldn't say how they got back to Miami after taking off in his parents' car in the middle of the night about two weeks ago.
The teens ended up 500 miles north in Savannah, Ga., with Powell in behind bars.

Powell was arrested in a Georgia shopping mall for shoplifting last week and released from jail two days later, police said. This helped his parents and a private investigator pinpoint the couple's location.
Powell was in a Sears department store when he allegedly began stealing earrings from their casings and putting them in his pocket, a Chatham County Sheriff Office arrest report stated.

The earrings were valued at $40.

It's unclear if deputies knew that Powell had been reported missing by his parents after allegedly taking their car in the middle of the night, picking up his girlfriend and leaving town on April 17.The parents of Dones and Powell believe they rebelled after being told to focus on school instead of their feelings for each other.

No one knew where the couple went, but now it's clear they headed north.
