Re: BRANDON LEE NORGAARD - 18 yo - Mankato(SW of Minneapolis) MN
MANKATO, Minn. -- When someone goes missing, with few leads to go on,
families and loved ones often prepare themselves for the worst.
A Mankato mother had understandable fears when her vulnerable 18-year-old son dropped off the map 9 days ago, but instead got news of the best kind Wednesday morning when police called saying he had been found.
It was just after midnight when a Mankato police officer called
Angelina May to report that her missing son, 18-year-old Brandon Lee
Nordgaard, had been located at a hotel in Plymouth. Nordgaard had left
town with traveling magazine salesmen who had offered him a job.
"I couldn't believe it when I got the call," she told the Mankato
Free Press. "I couldn't process it right away. We had a prayer service
at church last night and the pastor said, 'When a lost sheep is found we
all rejoice.' Boy do we have a lot of rejoicing to do."
Investigators used phone records from were Nordgaard's apartment to
tied him to the magazine salesmen. The magazine salesmen had made a call
from there to the Microtel in Mankato where other members of the group
were staying.
"They told him (Brandon) about what they did and he said, 'That
sounds like fun,'" May explained to the Free Press. "So they said, 'If
you to come with us, you can have a job.'"
Another Mankato officer remembered taking a call at the Microtel
about a group of magazine people fighting there. Investigators followed
that lead and a Tuesday night report from a Mankato woman who thought
Nordgaard had been at her house selling magazines a week ago.
They soon traced the group to a Plymouth hotel where they found
Brandon. The timing was fortunate, as the sales crew was planning to
leave for Florida in a couple days.
