Casey Anthony: Geraldo Rivera promises to ‘raise some hell down there in Orlando’

What precisely did Geraldo Rivera say about the Casey Anthony case on his Fox News Channel show last weekend?

After hearing readers talk about it, I went to the tape. He seemed to issue a Geraldo alert: Rivera is coming our way.

On “Geraldo At Large,” Rivera promised to cover the trial closely. “We’re going to raise some hell down there in Orlando and bust apart some of the preconceived notions that may exist,” he said.

Rivera repeated his view that the first-degree murder charge against Anthony is unwarranted, because so many other women kill their children. Anthony’s trial begins next month. She is charged in the death of her daughter, Caylee.

Rivera said Anthony’s prosecution was “a political decision” by a county prosecutor that “will come back to haunt him and the people of Orange County, Florida.”

One Rivera guest was Brad Conway, the former attorney for George and Cindy Anthony. Conway said first-degree murder was a stretch because the prosecution doesn’t have an answer to how the child died. Arthur Aidala, a defense attorney and Rivera guest, agreed with Conway.

But Mark Fuhrman, the former Los Angeles police detective who made headlines during the O.J. Simpson case, said Anthony had incriminated herself repeatedly. He predicted that the jury will be “overwhelmed” by all the evidence.
