Mother, boyfriend charged in severe beating of 2-year-old
May 16, 2011 at 2:18 PM
HOUSTON -- The mother of a two-year-old and her
boyfriend have been charged after authorities say the boy was repeatedly
beaten and never treated for his injuries.
Erica Mendoza was charged with injury to a child by omission. Her
boyfriend, who was not identified, was charged with child abuse, according to court documents.
Police said an officer who suspected abuse called investigators to the
suspects’ home in the 7709 block of Broadview on May 1.
Investigators responded and found the unresponsive child lying on the
floor with his eyes open. He was transported to the hospital, where he
was found to have bruises throughout his body, including his face, head, back and legs.
Doctors said the child had several internal injuries as well and needed a blood transfusion.
Police interviewed Mendoza, who blamed the injuries on the victim’s
4-year-old sibling. She also tried blaming "spirits" in the house for causing the injuries, police said.
Police said Mendoza admitted to noticing several bruises on the
child’s body, but never sought any type of medical treatment. Police
said the child would have died had he not been taken to the hospital.

I hope both of them are beaten so badly in jail they can't make it to court.kiwimom wrote:

This is no small matter if the poor baby was in danger of dying without medical intervention.
Another POS mother. Another POS boyfriend. Damn them both.
