"Newborn John" CROPP - 7 Weeks/ Accused: Father-Bascom Cropp - Houston TX
A 26-year-old Houston man faces child abuse charges after allegedly
breaking his 7-week-old son's legs and ribs, court records show.
Bascom
Cropp, has been charged with injury to a child, a felony, after
authorities said he broke his son's legs and two ribs during an incident
in December. Cropp has not been arrested.
Investigators said the
newborn's mother told investigators that she noticed the baby's upper
leg was swollen while changing his diaper on Dec. 6, court records show.
Doctors at Texas Children's Hospital found both legs were broken, and he also had two broken ribs.
The mother told investigators that Cropp cares for the infant while she is at work.
When
confronted by the newborn's mother, Cropp initially said he didn't know
how the baby was hurt. He later told her via text message that it might
have been accidental.
"If I did it, I didn't know I was doing
it," Cropp said, according to court records. "You know I'm rough
sometimes, and I don't mean to."
Cropp said he might have held the
baby too tight and could have been too rough while changing the baby's
diaper, the complaint states. Cropp told a Houston police officer that
he would not have let the baby's mother take the baby to the hospital if
he knew the extent of the injuries, according to court records.
A
hospital physician told police that the leg fractures were caused by a
twisting or torquing motion, and the rib fractures could have been the
result of being squeezed.
Anyone with information about Cropp's whereabouts is asked to call HPD at 713-308-3200.

Snipped from article above. I guess it's a good thing this POS abuser didn't realize how seriously he harmed the baby or he may be dead by now. Hope they find this POS and keep his arse in jail.
