Amber Alert issued after 17-year-old abducted at gunpoint

State public safety officials issued an Amber Alert Saturday in connection with the abduction at gunpoint of a 17-year-old boy by four males wearing black ski masks in Grand Rapids, Minn.

The boy was identified as Lucas Christopher Merrill, who was wearing a short-sleeved camouflage jacket and blue jeans at the time of the abduction. He is American Indian and is 5 feet 10 and 169 pounds.

He was last seen at 916 NW 20th Street in Grand Rapids at about 1:15 p.m. Saturday.

Authorities are looking for a mid-1990s black Suburban or Yukon SUV with body damage and tinted back windows. They did not have a license plate number.

Public safety officials ask anyone with information to call 911 or the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension at 218-326-3464.

State law enforcement officials say the Onamia teen that went missing after an alleged abduction has been found safe.
An Amber Alert was issued Saturday stating that 17-year-old Lucas

Authorities report that Merill has been found safe.

Charges to be Filed in Falsely Reported Abduction

The falsely reported abduction led Grand Rapids Police to issue an Amber Alert Saturday afternoon.

On Saturday, a caller claimed that a 17-year-old had been abducted at gun point, police said.

While authorities were investigating the incident, police said an off duty sheriff's deputy saw the alleged victim in the woods near where the incident took place. When officers approached him, police said he fled on foot.

Police also said they do not know why the two juveniles allegedly reported the abduction.
