OCTAVIA PENDERGRASS - 16 yo - and her son, RAKEEM - 1 yo - Grand Rapids MI

The Kent County Sheriff's Office says they are investigating two
endangered missing children. Police say it is believed
16-year-old Octavia Pendergrass walked away carrying her one-year-old
son, Rakeem. They were last seen at East Beltline and Evergreen in Grand
Rapids. We are told Pendergrass suffers from a medical condition
that poses a risk to the safety of herself and her son, and that she
has no money and a small supply of food for the infant. Octavia
Pendergrass is described as a black female, 5'5" tall, 160 pounds with
brown eyes, black hair and a pierced lower left lip. She was wearing a
gray hoody over a red shirt with a red bandanna in her hair. Rakeem
is described as a black male, 18 inches tall and 28 pounds. He was
wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and jeans. If you have any

An Amber Alert for a missing 16-year-old girl who suffers from severe
mental disabilities and her 15-month-old son has been canceled.Kent
County Sheriff's deputies said the girl and her son have been found
safe in the Grand Rapids area.Investigators have not released any

Pendergrass and her son, Rakim Pendergrass went missing at about noon.Investigators
said Pendergrass was waiting in a vehicle with her son outside of the
IRS office on Evergreen Road in Grand Rapids Township while her guardian
was inside.When the guardian returned to the vehicle about half
an hour later, the vehicle was empty, investigators said.Pendergrass
and her son are from Missaukee County in northern Michigan.

I'm relieved they have been found but I've got a lot of questions about this. This severely mentally disabled girl got pregnant at 15 and I hope whoever took advantage of/raped her is in jail. Who was her caregiver when she got pregnant? The same Guardian she has now? They failed to protect her. Lastly, who in their right mind thinks it's ok for her to have kept the baby having got pregnant at 15 when she is mentally disabled? She was a child herself and the best thing for the baby and her would have been adoption to a loving, stable family. Child protective services must have been involved with this case since she became pregnant and I'd like to know how they made their decisions. Who is caring for the baby now since this incident? Anyone know how we can get some answers?
