Casey Anthony trial: Lead investigator questioned by attorneys
By Anthony Colarossi, Walter Pacheco and Anika Myers Palm, Orlando Sentinel

Excerpt:
Several law-enforcement officers from the Orange County Sheriff's Office testified this afternoon about the emotions at the Anthony home, as well as the smell surrounding Casey Anthony's car and garage.
One of those included Cpl. Yuri Melich, the lead investigator in the case.
He read a narrative of the interview he conducted with Casey Anthony at the Sheriff's Office in 2008. During that interview, she told the investigator that Caylee was last seen with nanny Zenaida Fernández-Gonzáles.
In that narrative, she also explained that she didn't tell her parents or law enforcement about the disappearance "out of fear." She told Melich that she had spent several days searching for her at area stores and parks.
A recording of that interview also was played in court where Casey Anthony told him details of apartments and other residences where Caylee had previously stayed, including people allegedly living in those homes. She gave details of coworkers that law enforcement later determined had never worked at Universal Studios.
