Air samples show decomposition in Anthony car

The case against Casey Anthony shifted to testimonies about several air samples taken from the trunk of Casey Anthony’s white Pontiac Sunfire. These air samples made history as the first time this kind of science has made its way to use in a criminal case.
A scientist at Oak Ridge National, Dr. Arpad Vass, testified all day Monday that nearly all the compounds that are found in early human decomposition were detected in the trunk of Casey’s car. His air samples were at center stage and were attacked by defense attorney Jose Baez.
State attorney Jeff Ashton asked Vass his opinion whether or not a decomposing human body was inside the trunk of Casey’s car.
"I could find no other plausible explanation other than that, to explain all of the results we found," Vass said.
Vass and his research team also found “unusually high” levels of chloroform from an air sample taken from a piece of carpet inside the car.
“We were shocked,” Vass said. “We had never seen chloroform in that level in environmental samples, at least I never have in 20 years of shooting these types of samples.”
