KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Police are in a standoff
with a man suspected of stabbing his girlfriend and taking the couple's
4-month-old son early Monday morning.Kansas City, Mo., police
were called to 3635 Sunrise Drive shortly after 2 a.m. after a cutting
was reported. At the home, a woman with a knife wound to her neck told
officers her boyfriend attacked her, took their 4-month-old son, stole
her mother's vehicle and left.
The boyfriend, Eric D. Yeager, lives with
the woman, her parents and their son, police said.An Amber Alert
was initially issued for the child, but the baby was found unharmed at
about 5:30 a.m. at a relative's home near 51st Street and North
Corrington Avenue. The baby was taken to Children's Mercy Hospital to be
checked out, police said.The vehicle Yeager was driving was
found nearby, and he was found at a home in the 5100 block of North
Crystal Avenue at about 6 a.m., police said. Police are trying to
persuade Yeager to come out of the house.At last check, the stabbing victim was in critical condition.

3 P.M. | Police said Eric Yeager was transported to an area hospital as there were indications he had attempted to harm himself, but his injuries are not life threatening. The boy's mother from the cutting is expected to recover.
1:15 P.M. | Police report Eric Yeager was taken into custody at about 1:15 p.m.
11: 23 A.M. | Sloane Heller reports tear gas has been deployed inside the home where Yeager has been hiding.
11:05 A.M. | Hiding inside a home since about 6:30 a.m. Monday, Eric Yeager was still involved in negotations with police inside a home in the 5000 block of N. Crystal.
10:43 A.M. | Police spokeswoman Stacey Graves confirms the house where Eric Yaeger is hidingis that of a relative. Still no word on if anyone else inside.

6:15AM | One person has been arrested at house in 5100 block of Corrington on unknown charges. Suspect has not been located. 5:53 A.M. | A statement from police says authorities believe suspect is inside residence in the area.

5:45 A.M. | Police say they say they have located the child in the area of where the vehicle was found in the 5100 block of N. Corrington. He is safe. There was no immediate word on the whereabouts of the boy's father. Sgt. Stacey Graves with KCPD says a family member called police to alert them the boy was there. Authorities are canvassing the area.

police said a standoff involving a man who allegedly stabbed his
girlfriend in the neck and kidnapped their baby boy has ended.Police
were called to 3635 Sunrise Drive at 2:14 a.m. Police said when they
got there, they found a woman with a severe knife wound to the neck.
She told police she was attacked by her boyfriend, Eric Yeager, 24.
The woman also told police that Yeager took their 4-month-old son after attacking her.
Police said Yeager took the child to his aunt's home in the 5000 block
of North Crystal Avenue. The aunt said all she knew was that Yeager had
been in an argument with his girlfriend."He was crying and he was upset," she said.She
said when she turned on the news and saw the report about the
kidnapping, she took the child to safety while Yeager barricaded himself
in her house.“When they found him I was so relieved because that
was the most important thing on my mind," the boy's uncle, Anthony
Michael Glorioso, told KMBC's Brenda Washington.
Neighbor Brigitte Hofmann said she saw the commotion at the house and started taking pictures."(Police)
told me to get back in my house and stay away from the window, but I
couldn't resist and started photographing," she said.One of the
pictures she took was a shot of Yeager coming out of the house with a BB
gun and firing shots. She said that police didn't fire back, but lobbed
more tear gas into the house.Moments later, officers went into
the house and brought Yeager out without incident. Police said he
suffered an injury while trying to harm himself, but that it wasn't
serious.The stabbing victim has been taken to a hospital. Glorioso said she is in critical condition.
