BALTIMORE (WUSA) -- Authorities are looking for 8-year-old Darrick Charles Brown, Jr.

Baltimore police were called to the 300 block of Gwynn Avenue at about 6:30 p.m. Monday.

According to witnesses, a light green newer model Ford Taurus with two people inside stopped near a group children who were walking. One of the people left the Taurus and grabbed the eight-year-old. The child was thrown into the trunk before the car sped away.

Darrick was wearing a black shirt with a red and white rocket on the front and black shorts.

The child was last observed at approximately 6:30 PM in the area of the 300 block of Gwynn Ave in Baltimore City, MD. Witnesses told police that a light green late model Ford Taurus with two black males inside stopped and grabbed Darrick Charles Brown Jr., who was walking down the street with some other people.

The boy was reportedly thrown into the trunk of the car before it sped away.
Darrick Brown Jr. is described as a 8 year old male standing 3 foot five inches tall. He was last seen wearing a black shirt with a red-and-white rocket on the front and black shorts.

An 8-year-old boy who was abducted while walking with friends in Southwest Baltimore Monday night has been found safe, a Baltimore Police spokesman said.

Darrick Charles Brown was found unharmed in an abandoned house in 300 Lyndhurst St. in West Baltimore, and he was being checked out by medics as a precaution, said the spokesman, Agent Donny Moses. Investigators have one suspect in custody, but no further information was available, he said.

On Tuesday, police had released a photo of Raheem Taylor, 21, who they wanted to question in connection with the incident.

BALTIMORE (WUSA/AP) -- Authorities say the Amber Alert for 8-year-old
Darrick Charles Brown, Jr. has been canceled after he was found
unharmed in a vacant townhouse in southwest Baltimore.
The child was described as "a little hungry but otherwise ok." Medics were called as a precaution.
Brown was found Tuesday morning about 13 hours later after a woman in
the Allendale neighborhood who saw television reports of the boy's
abduction, spotted the boy and called police, Detective Donny Moses
said.

Moses said the man with the boy, Nathaniel Booker, 20 -- who lives on
the same block as Brown -- has been charged with kidnapping, kidnapping a
child under the age of 16, reckless endangerment, first- and
second-degree assault, false imprisonment and extortion.
He added that police are looking for a second suspect, Raheem Taylor, 21.
A ransom demand was made, which is unusual and might mean the captors
were familiar with someone in the family, Moses said. The demand did
give investigators more information to work with, but Moses declined to
say when or how the demand was made or discuss what was sought.
"We do feel very fortunate to have this young man back healthy and
alive," Moses said. The boy was checked by medics and taken to police
headquarters where he spoke with officers and was reunited with
relatives.
Brown's father has drug convictions in the 1990s and 2000, according
to online court records. Investigators are looking at the possibility
that drugs may be related to the boy's abduction, Moses said.
When the two teenage brothers of Steven Blackwell Jr., a suspected
drug kingpin, were abducted during a Catonsville home invasion in 2008,
attorney Warren Brown tried to broker a deal to get the boys released.
He was startled to learn that abductions, usually involving adults
linked to illicit activities, were common and went unreported.
"The quiet prevalence of these types of situations was surprising,"
he said. "Payouts are made and no one wants to get the police involved."

The boys were returned but police believe the kidnappings led to a series of retaliatory shootings.
Percy Hilton, 54, who lives next door to the home where Brown was
found Tuesday, said that at least two groups of people -- possibly
prospective renters -- had been by to see the townhouse recently. He
didn't hear anyone breaking in to the home or any noise overnight, he
said.
