A three-year-old girl died after accidentally shooting herself in the
head with a gun she had found hidden under a mattress, police said.
Lilianna Moore, three, had been left home alone by her father, who was out
visiting his girlfriend when his daughter picked up the loaded gun in a
bedroom at their apartment in St Louis, Missouri.
Neighbours reported seeing a paramedic racing out of the building carrying Lilianna's limp
body in his arms, blood pouring from her head.

The horrific accident happened at around 8.40pm on Tuesday,
as Lilianna played in a bedroom at her home in the Shaw neighbourhood.
She found the gun hidden between two mattresses, picked it up and accidentally pulled the trigger.
Lilianna was rushed to hospital, but she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Shocked neighbours who gathered outside the apartment block to grieve said they
couldn't believe a loaded gun had been left in the same room as a toddler.
