Berlin Police Ask for Help Finding Missing Girl

The Berlin Police Department and Waushara County Sheriff's Department are asking for help locating a missing 14-year-old girl.

Nicole Ann Harrington disappeared from her front yard Saturday at about 6 P.M. Her cell phone hasn't been used since that evening.

Police say she uses different names and sometimes claims to be a boy. Names she's used before include Kristen or Kristin Green and Avory Green.

Police have a report she may have been seen on a black mountain bike south of the city of Berlin, possibly carrying a backpack, at about 6 P.M. Saturday, but police can't confirm that was her.

Nicole is white with brown hair and hazel eyes. She's 5'2" and about 120 pounds. Her hair is jaw length and she has bangs.

The Berlin
Police Department says the 14-year-old girl missing since Saturday
evening is safe in the custody of authorities in Chattanooga, Tennessee,
while three people accused of helping her are in custody in the Green
Lake County Jail.
Police say their investigation tracked Nicole Ann Harrington to a bus terminal at 3 o'clock Thursday afternoon.

She was in good health and taken into
protective custody by Chattanooga police before being turned over to
Hamilton County juvenile authorities there.

Berlin police say three adults are accused of
illegally aiding and concealing her whereabouts. Their identities and
their connection to Nicole aren't being made public yet. Two are
expected to make court appearances Friday, Berlin police said.

Police Chief Dennis Plantz says his
department received assistance from police in Markesan and La Crosse,
the sheriff's departments of Green Lake and Winnebago counties, several
fire departments, as well as citizen tips.

Twenty-four
hours after a missing Berlin girl was found safe in Tennessee, her
biological mother and half-brother appeared in Green Lake County court
to face accusations of helping in her disappearance.

Trisa Green, 40, and her son Brandon Esty,
18, are accused of interference and lying to investigators after
14-year-old Nicole Ann Harrington disappeared from outside her Berlin
home last Saturday.

Police say they were able to track down Nicole using public tips, surveillance video, text messages, and Facebook.

"Nicole did not like where she was at with
her (adopted) mom and dad, and her biological mother said she would
assist in her leaving," Sergeant Tim Jones said.

According to investigators, the morning after
Nicole was reported missing, Green and Esty drove her to La Crosse to
possibly stay with friends. That didn't work out, so the three drove
back to the Berlin area.

Then, police say, on Wednesday Green and Esty
helped Nicole buy a bus ticket from Oshkosh to Chattanooga, where
officers found the girl at a bus terminal Thursday afternoon.

"They told us that they had not had any
contact with Nicole up to and including the day I talked to them on
Wednesday. That of course wasn't the case," Jones said.

"The video surveillance cameras from several
gas stations in the area showed that they were together the evening of
her disappearance," he said.

A third, unidentified person is also in custody in connection to Nicole's disappearance.

Police say Nicole is in protective custody in Tennessee right now. It's unclear when she will return to Berlin.
