VICTORIA NICOLE JIMENEZ - 16 yo - El Paso TX
Family and friends are looking for a 16-year-old student missing for
five days after she was supposed to meet her aunt at an East Side park.
Family members said it is unusual that Victoria Nicole Jimenez would be gone for so long.
"It's just been really hard. I don't know where to look," her mother
Dena Vargas said Monday as friends posted missing-person flyers
throughout El Paso.
Jimenez is a student at Americas High School and involved in recreational cheerleading groups.
At about 10:40 a.m. last Wednesday, Jimenez was suppose to wait for her
aunt by the swings at Marty Robbins Park, her family said. The teen
hasn't been seen since. Americas High is currently on intersession
vacation.
Vargas said her daughter's cell phone was turned off a day after she
went missing and remains off. A vigil praying for Jimenez's safe return
took place Sunday at the same park.
"They went through the videos of the (park's) recreation center to see
if she went to the swing set but she wasn't in the videos," Vargas said.
"Nobody knows nothing. Nobody saw anything." The disappearance was
labeled as a runaway by El Paso police, who Vargas feels are not doing
enough.
Jimenez ran away once before after a disagreement but only went to her
grandmother's house and answered her phone, her mother said.
Detective Mike Baranyay, a police spokesman, said a bulletin on the missing girl was sent to all officers.
"At this point, there is no indication that foul play has occurred and it is an ongoing and active investigation," he said.
Jimenez is 5 feet, 4 inches tall and weighs about 110 pounds. She has
long black hair and light brown eyes. She wears glasses but may not have
them on.
She was last seen wearing a red half-vest over a white shirt and blue jeans.
Anyone with information on Jimenez may call 502-6545 or El Paso police communications at 832-4400.
