White Cadillac Escalade With Two Children Inside Has Been Stolen In Burlington

Burlington, NC -- Two young children were sleeping in a white Cadillac Escalade when it was stolen early Sunday morning.

Police tell us Alberto Perez Medina reported his Escalade missing from 840 N. Sellars Mill Road in Burlington around 4:30am by a passenger that was in the vehicle.

Medina's three children were asleep in the vehicle when it was stolen. One child was able to get out.

The suspect has been tentatively identified as Jamie Sosa, a Hispanic male in his 30's, from Winston-Salem.

The vehicle was last seen travelling south on N. Sellars Mill Road toward N. Church Street.

The license plate on the vehicle is NC WXX-1787.

Jannete Perez Bautista, 11, and Luis Alberto Perez-Bautista, 4, are the two children reported missing.

The requirements for an Amber Alert were not met per the supervisor for Missing and Exploited Children of North Carolina. The children are being reported as missing.

It is requested that anyone that sees the vehicle or the children contact the appropriate law enforcement agency with the information.

Car Stolen With 3 Sleeping Kids Inside, Police Say

1 Child Escapes From Car

BURLINGTON, N.C. -- Police are asking the public for help in finding a car that had three sleeping children inside it when it was stolen early Sunday morning in Burlington.
Investigators said Alberto Perez Medina told police that Jamie Sosa, a passenger in his white Cadillac Escalade, drove off in the vehicle while Medina's three children were asleep inside it at about 4 a.m. Sunday.
One of the children was able to exit the vehicle, police said. Jannete Perez Bautista, 11, and Luis Alberto Perez-Bautista, 4, were still asleep in the vehicle when it was taken, investigators said.
The 2003 Escalade with 22-inch silver rims and license plate WXX-1787 was last seen driving south on N. Sellars Mill Road toward N. Church Street.
Sosa, of Winston-Salem, was described as a Hispanic man in his 30s.
The requirements for an Amber Alert were not met, so an alert was not issued, according to the supervisor of the Center for Missing and Exploited Children of North Carolina. The children have been listed as "missing."
Anyone who has seen the vehicle or the missing girl and boy are asked to contact police. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call the Burlington Police Department at 336-229-3500 or Crimestoppers at 336-229-7100.

Medina's three children were asleep in the vehicle when it was stolen. One child was able to get out.

Jannete Perez Bautista, 11, and Luis Alberto Perez-Bautista, 4, were the two children missing.

The children have since been found safely.

The suspect has been tentatively identified as Jamie Sosa, a Hispanic male in his 30's, from Winston-Salem.

Authorities say two North Carolina children
who were asleep inside a sport utility vehicle when it was stolen were
returned safely to their home.
Burlington police say the
stolen vehicle was found abandoned near the home about noon Sunday,
seven hours after Alberto Medina of Graham reported it stolen. The
missing 11-year-old girl and 4-year-old boy were unharmed.

Police are still searching for the Winston-Salem man suspected of taking the vehicle.

Capt. Steve Smith says
Medina voluntarily gave the man a ride home. But the suspect fell
asleep, and Medina couldn't get him out of the vehicle when they
stopped. Smith says when Medina went to the door, the suspect drove off.

Medina said his three children were inside the SUV when it was stolen, but one managed to escape.
