The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office is asking for
the public’s help in locating Jade Winstead, 17, who has been missing
since July 7 from the area of Meadowview Court in Leesburg.

Winstead had been staying at the Loudoun County Youth Shelter,
according to Loudoun Sheriff’s Office spokesman Kraig Troxell, and was
recently been spotted in the Ashburn and Sterling areas.

“She left on her own accord, but had been in contact with family and
friends,” Troxell said. “They are concerned that she hasn’t returned and
are concerned for her well being.”

Winstead has brown eyes and, at the time of her disappearance, had
dyed blonde hair. The 5-foot-10-inch Winstead weighs 150 pounds.
Winstead has several tattoos on her body including the word “Jaded” on
her left wrist and “Only the Strong Survive” on her left arm.

If you’ve seen Winstead or know of her whereabouts, contact Investigator S. Cumberledge at 703-777-0475.

Last week the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office circulated an
alert about a 17-year-old who had been missing for more than a
month. Sunday, a reader of the sheriff's office Facebook page
called to report that the girl was in an Ashburn coffee shop.

The apparent runway, Jade Winstead, was taken into custody by
deputies, the sheriff's office announced today.

"We often say that our citizens are the extra eyes and ears of
public safety," Sheriff Stephen O. Simpson said in a statement
about the action. "Thanks to technology and an alert citizen, this
case had a happy ending."
