DCF Releases Report on Caylee Anthony - cfnews13
ORLANDO --
The Department of Children and Families released a review of the death of Caylee Marie Anthony Thursday.
"This agency finds the mother in this case to have neglected
their child, to have failed to protect their child from potential harm,"
said DCF Spokesperson Carrie Hoeppner.
The report did not offer an opinion on the cause of death regarding Caylee Anthony.
The report recounts the major milestones from when Caylee
Anthony was reported missing to when her remains were formally
identified. It also includes details on the condition of Caylee's
remains from the autopsy report, and information from the Orange County
Sheriff's Office on their investigation.
A child protective investigator interviewed Casey and Cindy
Anthony in Aug. 2008, where Casey insisted that the sheriff's office was
more interested in prosecuting Casey than finding Caylee.
After Casey was arrested again, the CPI tried several times
to interview her, but she would not talk to them, and requests through
Jose Baez's office were declined.
DCF concluded that Casey Anthony's actions "threatened harm"
toward Caylee, were a "failure to protect" the child, and contributed to
her death.
Caylee Anthony's remains were found Dec. 11, 2008. The then
2-year-old was first reported missing in July of that same year, which
was 31 days after Casey said she last saw her daughter alive.
Casey was found not guilty last month on murder charges regarding Caylee.
This latest report from DCF is the agency's comprehensive
review of the case. It will yield no new charges against Casey, but it
will be placed in her permanent record.
