Clarksville —
It’s been seven days since Rachael Goodrid of Washington has heard from
her daughter Jadrian Diana Goodrid. The 17-year-old and her 16-year-old
friend, Shelby Makowsky of Clarksville, were last seen at a store in
Clarksville at 3:30 p.m. Aug. 6.

and Shelby Makowsky, 16, of Clarksville
were last seen Aug. 6 in Clarksville.
“She (Jadrian) sent me a message at 6:30 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 6),”
Rachel Goodrid said Friday. “It said ‘I’m leaving, I’m safe. I love
you.’”
Rachael is hoping her teenager is OK, but wants to hear from her, as do
Makowsky’s parents. Makowsky’s father, David, is a detective for the
state police based at the Sellersburg Post.
Goodrid said her daughter has had some trouble in the past, but has
been doing much better. The two girls met last year when they were both
at Southwest Youth Village in Vincennes. Since her release, Jadrian has
been planning for her junior year at Washington High School and has
stayed in touch with her friend Makowsky.
“We let them see each other,” Rachael Goodrid said of the close relationship. “Everyone thought things were going well.”
Goodrid is just hoping to hear from her daughter to confirm that she is
safe. She had tried contacting Jadrian’s friends in Washington, but
said that since her daughter completed her stay at Southwest she hasn’t
been in touch with them.
“Things have been really good lately,” Rachael Goodrid said. “We never saw this coming.”
David Makowsky said, “I don’t know if they’re still in the area (Clarksville) or not.”
Goodrid said Jadrian had talked about going to Louisville about a month ago and thinks the girls may have gone there.
“I had no indication that anything was wrong,” Goodrid said.
The parents have not been able to reach the girls as their cell phones
have been turned off since last Saturday. They tried tracking the phones
with no success.
The parents are asking for any information that will help find the
pair. Goodrid is 5 feet 3 inches tall, about 130 pounds, with hazel eyes
and dark brown hair. She was last seen wearing a teal shirt, black
shorts and orange shoes. Makowsky is 5 feet 4 inches tall, about 130
pounds, blue eyes and brown hair. They were driving an orange scooter.
“Just please help us,” Rachel asked of the public Friday.
Anyone with information on their whereabouts is asked to call the
Washington Police at 254-4410, Rachael Goodrich at 617-1433, or David
Makowsky at 641-8267.

Two teens missing from southern Indiana have not been found, but apparently, they were seen recently.
Shelby Makowsky's father, David, said there was a confirmed sighting of his daughter and Jadrian Goodrid in Charleston, W.Va.
But before police could get there, they had already left the area.
The 16- and 17-year-old girls were last seen 10 days ago in Clarksville.
Their case was reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Anyone with information should call their local police department or state police.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Two missing Indiana teens have been found safe, seven weeks and 700 miles after they were last seen.Just
before 10 p.m. Thursday, David Makowsy got the phone call he was both
dreading and wishing for, one with news about his missing 16-year-old
daughter, Shelby.
“My wife answered the phone and she had to have the guy repeat a
couple times who he was and where he was from because it was kind of a
shock to her,” Makowsky said.On the other end was an officer from
Port Authority Police, in Manhattan, who told the Makowskys that Shelby
and her 17-year-old friend, Jadrian Goodrin, were in custody. “I never would've believed they'd make it all the way to New York,” Makowsky said. The two runaways disappeared from Clarksville on Aug. 6. They've been in the National Missing Children Registry. The last confirmed sighting came in mid-August in West Virginia.“So,
for the last, almost five weeks, we have had nothing, and we did not
know where they were. Were they alive or dead?” Makowsky said. “Shelby
said last night that they begged for money, slept under overpasses and
things like that. They would go to restaurants after they closed and ask
them for leftover food.”
In New York City, people who had never met the teens were looking
for them. A Port Authority police task force specifically patrols for
runaways.“They walk around and look for kids that appear to be --
for instance Shelby and Jadrian were kind of dirty, their clothes were
kind of in a mess and they looked like they were under the age of 18,”
Makowsky said.As for the reason why the girls left, Makowsky said his daughter indicated that the girls wanted to be together.“She's 16 years old and I don't think she thought the whole thing through,” Makowsky said. The Clark County Sheriff's Office is now working with Port Authority officers to get Shelby transported back to Indiana.
