Authorities in West Michigan say they're looking for two young children whose father failed to drop them off with their mother as planned.

The Mason County sheriff's department said Friday that 4-year-old Douglas McCallum and 2-year-old Shelby McCallum were last known to be with 52-year-old Mark McCallum on Wednesday. The department reports they're investigating it as a parental kidnapping.

The department says both parents live in the Ludington area and there was a shared custody arrangement. They were to be dropped off Thursday.
Authorities are looking for either a dark green 1995 Dodge pickup truck with a Michigan license plate "DALE12" or a dark blue 2005 Chevrolet Malibu with a Michigan license plate "1CDX85." Officials say Mark McCallum has family ties in the Grand Rapids area and in Arizona.

The Mason County Sheriff's Department now has an arrest warrant for a father believed to have kidnapped his two children.
They are looking for Mark Allan McCallum, 52, on charges of parental kidnapping and being a habitual offender.



McCallum is believed to have his four-year-old son Douglas McCallum and his two-year-old daughter Shelby McCallum.

He and his ex-wife, Sharon McCallum, had a court hearing scheduled for Friday.

"I know he is gone," she says. "He did not show up for our court date today."

Sharon says her ex-husband took their children to Arizona for several days last November -- without telling anyone.

"His dad called me, and I talked him into bringing them back," she says.

Mason County's sheriff says his deputies are familiar with McCallum.

"We have had several police contacts with him in the last month that
have us concerned about his mental condition," says Sheriff Jeff Fiers.

Despite the concerns, the sheriff says they do not have any credible
information that McCallum plans to or made statements about hurting his
children.

Fiers says there are several different criteria for issuing an Amber
Alert. As of Friday evening the sheriff said the case did not meet the
criteria, but said the case would be reassessed over the weekend.

McCallum may be in a dark green 1995 Dodge pickup with a Michigan
license plate of DALE12, or in a dark blue 2005 Chevrolet Malibu with a
Michigan license plate of 1CDX85.

McCallum is believed to have family connections in Grand Rapids and Arizona.

Two Mason County children, missing since Thursday, have been found safe and unharmed in Florida.
The Mason County Sheriff's Department sent out the notification Sunday evening.

They say at 4:30pm, the two children, four year old Douglas and two year old Shelby McCallum were found in Key West.

Their father, 52-year-old Mark McCallum, is now in custody.

Deputies say McCallum failed to show up for a custody exchange Thursday. That's when the search started and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

The children's parents were due in court Friday for a custody hearing.
