"Newborns John and Joe Doe" - 2 Months/Twins - Guilty: Eric Lee Dominguez - Caldwell ID
CANYON COUNTY - A Caldwell man has pleaded guilty to injuring
2-month old twins and faces sentencing on Oct. 12.
Eric Lee Dominguez, 34, admitted to causing extensive injuries to the twin
boys after becoming frustrated that both babies were crying at the
same time. He described to police how he hurt the infants on May
24, 2011, by shaking them, squeezing them, grabbing their legs and pushing on their chests.
The infants suffered extensive injuries including rib, femur and
metatarsal fractures, hemorrhages, hematomas and head trauma.
Doctors concluded the injures were consistent with child abuse.
Dominguez is currently in custody at the Canyon County jail on a
$500,000 bond. He pleaded guilty to three counts of felony injury
to child and two sentencing enhancements for actually causing great
bodily harm. In exchange for his guilty pleas, one sentencing
enhancement will be dismissed and his sentence will run at the same
time as a pending probation violation.
Felony injury to child carries up to 10 years in prison and would
require Dominguez to submit a DNA sample and possibly pay a $5,000
civil penalty for each victim. The sentencing enhancements add up
to 20 more years in prison to each count.
