MIA COPPEDGE - 13 yo - Washington DC
District police are asking for help finding a 13-year-old girl who ran away and hasn't been seen in more than two months.
Mia Coppedge was last seen on the unit block of Q Street NE on June 13, according to D.C. police.
Police began distributing a flyer last week with her photograph and description in an effort to generate leads in the case.
A
D.C. police spokesman said on Tuesday that the case was still active
and that no new information has come to light about her disappearance.
Coppedge's case is classified as an "endangered runaway," according to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
That means she is believed to have left home on her own and law
enforcement does not suspect foul play, but she could still be at risk.
Police said no other information about the circumstances of her disappearance were available.
Federal
guidelines for classifying missing runaway children as endangered
include: if a child is 13 years old or younger, has abused drugs,
experienced physical or sexual abuse, or was spending time in an area
known for criminal activity.
NCMEC says Coppedge is believed to have remained in the D.C. area.
She is described as black, about 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing 175 pounds, according to police and NCMEC.
She has a medium complexion, brown eyes and black hair.
When Coppedge was last seen, she was wearing a white shirt, gray pants and blue and yellow DMX tennis shoes.
Anyone
with information about her disappearance is asked to call D.C. police
at 202-727-9099 or 202-576-6768. Tipsters can also call NCMEC at
1-800-THE-LOST (843-5678).
