WHEELING -- A Kentucky family is searching for their missing daughter,
who bought a Greyhound bus ticket to Wheeling on Thursday, Sept. 1. Alyssa Moore, 16, and her boyfriend, Justin Lee Smith, 16, were picked
up from school in Kentucky by a 20-year-old male, who took them to the
Greyhound bus station in Lexington, Kentucky.
Moore was captured on surveillance video buying two tickets to Wheeling using the last name "Williams."
Her parents believe she could be in Wheeling or somewhere else in the
state and that the couple could be using the last name “Williams” as an
alias.
Moore is described as 5 feet 1 inch tall, weighing 120 pounds with
short, light brown hair, which is blonde in the front and has blue eyes.

Smith is described as a 6 feet tall male weighing 160 pounds with short
brownish red hair. He also has large gauges in his ears, lip piercings
and nose piercings.
If you have seen either of these subjects, you are urged to call your local police department with any information.
Alyssa's family is also offering a cash reward for any information leading to the location of the couple.
The 20-year-old male has been charged with custodial interference and is said to be aiding police in the investigation.

HUSTONVILLE, Ky. — A central Kentucky family is searching for their teen daughter and her boyfriend,
who were last seen getting on a Greyhound bus headed for Wheeling, W.Va., on Sept. 1.
Tanya Moore of Hustonville told The Advocate-Messenger that 16-year-old Alyssa Moore and her boyfriend,
16-year-old Justin Smith were last seen by a friend at a bus station in
Lexington ( http://bit.ly/rqE7f6).
Moore said her daughter didn't tell her family of her plans and bought bus tickets under the name "Williams."
Trooper Paul Blanton said investigators took Alyssa's computer and cell phone
records to look for clues, but haven't had any success. Troopers
confirmed through law enforcement agencies in West Virginia that the
couple arrived in Wheeling on Sept. 2 because a motel clerk remembered
denying them a room.
Tanya Moore suspects the couple ran off to
escape the restrictions on the time they were allowed to spend together.
They have been dating for 11 months. Justin recently had been grounded,
and Moore said she and her husband had been "trying to slow their
relationship down a little bit."
Still, the idea that the pair would run away together "was very shocking to me," Moore said, and their
reasons for heading to West Virginia remain mysterious.
"The last place I would have thought of is West Virginia," she said. "As far as
we know, neither one of them has any family or friends there."
A friend picked up Alyssa from Lincoln County High School, then got Justin
in Lancaster before dropping them at the bus station, police said.
Alyssa withdrew $700 from her bank account and also took her brother's video
games and other items that could be easily pawned. She has not used her
cell phone or accessed her bank account since disappearing, her mother said.
Moore described her daughter as "very smart and a planner."
The idea that her daughter is capable enough to survive for three weeks
on the lam without detection helps keep darker thoughts at bay.
"I worry that something went horribly wrong for about a nano-second, but I
have to turn that off," said Moore. "You can't focus on that, or you
become paralyzed. For all we know, they might both be working at a McDonald's somewhere."
Tanya Moore has made three trips to West Virginia since her daughter disappeared. There have been four possible
sightings of the couple in a small town outside of Wheeling.
Tanya Moore suspects one of the couple's friends has been in contact with them or knows something about their activities.
"We are worried to death, and we are heartbroken," Moore said. "We're desperate for someone to come forward."

Missing teens found in Tennessee

Two 16-year-olds who have been on the run for nearly a month have been located in Tennessee, where they had taken up with a group of transitory magazine sellers.

Tanya and Douglas Moore of Hustonville caught up with their runaway daughter Alyssa early Tuesday morning in Knox County, Tenn., where police had detained her. Alyssa’s boyfriend, Justin Smith, who had been living with grandparents in Garrard County, was located about an hour south in the city of Sweetwater, Tanya Moore said this morning.

“She is safe and sound,” Moore said of her daughter. “It feels like the weight of the world has been lifted off our shoulders.”

Alyssa Moore remains in Tennessee today, awaiting transfer back to Kentucky, where state police had issued a pickup order for her after her family reported her missing. Justin is believed to be in a similar situation, though Moore said she isn’t privy to details about his case. No criminal charges are pending, she said.

The pair ran off together Sept. 1, catching a Greyhound bus in Lexington to Wheeling, W.Va. They hadn’t been seen or heard from until authorities located Justin in Sweetwater on Monday evening.

Tanya Moore said police in Sweetwater came in contact with a group of young people selling magazines door-to-door and discovered Justin was reported missing out of Kentucky. He cooperated with authorities to help them track down Alyssa, who was selling magazines with another group in Knox County, Moore said.

Moore and her husband drove to Tennessee early Tuesday morning and were able to meet with their daughter.

“After 26 days, all you want to do is hug them,” Moore said.

Details of the pair’s activities during their odyssey remain sketchy. Moore said she believes they hooked up with the magazine sellers about two weeks ago, traveling from West Virginia to Pennsylvania back to West Virginia and into Tennessee. They were able to earn enough money to feed themselves, and the magazine group put them up in motels, Moore said.

When all of the legal matters are cleared up, Moore said she expects her daughter to return home and go back to Lincoln County High School, where she has missed nearly a month of classes.

“She was very happy to see us,” her mother said. “I think she was kind of relieved it was over, and she is ready to come back and face whatever she has to face.”
