Casey Anthony: Parents feel ‘tremendous anger’ toward defense, Dr. Phil says

A “Dr. Phil” interview was “very cathartic” for George Anthony, Dr. Phil McGraw told NBC’s “Today” this morning.

McGraw’s interview with George and Cindy Anthony, the parents of Casey Anthony, will play Tuesday and Wednesday. The program now airs at 3 p.m. weekdays on WOFL-Channel 35. McGraw was helping get out the word that the interview had been delayed from today because the men’s final of the U.S. Open will be played this afternoon.

The Anthonys feel “tremendous amount” of anger toward the their daughter’s defense team, McGraw told Matt Lauer. Casey Anthony was acquitted in July of murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee.

“They had to sit there and listen to them say that George molested his daughter, which is why she learned to keep secrets,” McGraw told NBC. “That he coerced her into and helped hide the body. And that he confessed his involvement during an extramarital affair with a volunteer worker.”

McGraw’s production company made a contribution to a foundation that the Anthonys have established in their granddaughter’s name. McGraw told “Today” that he thinks the Anthonys are “playing it very straight” on the foundation, which will face audits by the IRS and the Florida attorney general.

In the “Dr. Phil” interview, Cindy Anthony talks about going to MySpace to talk about her granddaughter being missing before she alerted authorities. McGraw wonders why she did that. “Caylee was missing in my heart that day, she wasn’t missing physically,” Cindy Anthony says. “I thought I knew where she was at.” She adds that she thought Casey was “purposely keeping Caylee away from me.”
