JAYDEN TUFELE - 3 Months - Chicago IL
An autopsy conducted today found that a 3-month-old girl died of multiple injuries due to child abuse.
The Cook County medical examiner's office ruled the death of Jayden Tufele,
of the 5100 block of West Ainslie Avenue, a homicide.
Jayden's parents told police they took the baby to Children's Memorial Hospital on Monday after finding her in distress, authorities said.
She died the next day. The child had suffered multiple injuries, including head trauma and broken ribs, officials said.
The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services opened an
investigation after receiving abuse allegations against Jayden's
parents, according to Kendall Marlowe, a department spokesman. The
agency never had any previous involvement with Jayden's family, he added.
Early today, Grand Central Area detectives went to the
family's home and left with several items. The police investigation is
continuing and no charges had been filed as of about 3 p.m.
