DUNCAN, Okla. -- Two infant twin boys are recovering from a series of severe injuries that, authorities said, were inflicted by their own father.Jason Ausmus, 30, has been arrested and charged with child abuse,
according to the Stephens County Sheriff's Office. He is being held on a
$500,000 bond.

The twins' mother, Misty Ausmus, has been charged with
enabling child abuse, according to sheriff's deputies.According to a report filed by a sheriff's investigator, authorities
were notified on Friday when the twins were taken to Duncan Regional
Hospital's emergency room. The medical staff noted several bruises
around the children's necks, and both of them had broken ribs.A
doctor told the investigator that one of the boys had been living with
broken ribs for more than a week. The investigator's report said that
Jason Ausmus admitted to choking and hitting the children on several
occasions when they would not stop crying.The mother also
allegedly admitted to investigators that she had witnessed the abuse,
told her husband to stop it but never reported it to authorities.
