Jupiter man charged with murder in 2010 death of his 3-week-old daughter

JUPITER—
Police on Friday charged a 25-year-old Jupiter man with the 2010 death of his 3-week-old daughter.

Nathan S. Maddox was charged with second-degree murder after police took him into custody at his sister's residence in Port St. Lucie, Sgt. Scott Pascarella said.

Shelby Maddox died of blunt head trauma on Feb. 8, 2010. Police said Nathan Maddox was her caretaker at the time of the incident, which happened in the 700 block of Cree Street in Jupiter River Estates, a community of single-family homes south of Indiantown Road and west of Pennock Lane.


Nathan Maddox was taken into custody with the help of the Port St. Lucie Department and transported to the St. Lucie County Jail. He is awaiting extradition back to Palm Beach County, police said.

Nathan S. Maddox, 24, 17985 E. Thelma Ave., Jupiter, was arrested Nov. 9 and charged with two counts of trafficking oxycodone, four counts of obtaining or attempting to obtain a controlled substance by fraud and two counts of criminal use of personal identification.
