OVERTON COUNTY -- An Amber Alert has been issued by the TBI for a
12-year-old Overton County girl who was allegedly taken from her home by
her stepfather late last night.
Cassidy Dailey is a white female
with black hair and green eyes. She is about five feet tall and weighs
130 pounds, according to a release from the TBI on behalf of the
Overton County Sheriff's Department.
Allegedly, she was taken by
her stepfather, Allen Harness, 37, after he assaulted her mother with a
knife, the TBI said. Harness is described as a white male with brown
hair, brown eyes, about 6 ft. 1 inch tall, weighing 256 pounds. He was
last seen driving a white Chevrolet utility truck, possibly with a
Tennessee license plate of U210544.
Allegedly, Harness violated a restraining order that had prohibited him from any contact with the girl.
According to Overton County Sheriff W.B. Melton, the girl and Harness had still not been found as of 10 a.m. today.
Sheriff
Melton said Harness' wife suffered a knife cut to the throat in the
incident which happened at her home late last night. She was taken to
the hospital and is expected to recover, he said.
The sheriff
said he and his deputies are hoping that someone who sees the Amber
Alert and may spot the girl or Harness will contact authorities as they
search for the two.
Anyone with information on the case is asked
to contact the Overton Sheriff's Department at 931-823-5635 or call the
TBI at 1-800-TBI-FIND.

Amber Alert Canceled After 12-Year-Old Girl Found Safe
Updated: Oct 21, 2011 7:10 PM EDT
LIVINGSTON, Tenn. – An AMBER Alert has been canceled after police located a 12-year-old girl from Overton County who was allegedly taken by her stepfather.
Police safely located Cassidy Dailey in a hotel in Dalton, Georgia. Allen Harness was taken into custody. The alert was canceled just after 3:30 p.m. Friday.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation issued the alert for middle and east Tennessee after Cassidy was reported mising.
The Overton County Sheriff's Office said she was taken by her stepfather around 12:30 a.m. after he allegedly assaulted her mother with a knife.
Cassidy apparently went willingly, but TBI officials said Harness was under court order to stay away from her and the house. DCS had also been investigating an abuse allegation against him, so law enforcement officials were very concerned.
Harness was arrested in July 2011 for child neglect.
Investigators said they had tracked a phone call from Harness' phone in Chattanooga at one point Friday.
Cassidy's mother Christie Harness, who suffered cuts to her hand and throat, was treated and released from the hospital.
"I just want my daughter back. I want her back home to get the help that she needs. I love her," Christy Harness told NewsChannel 5.
Overton County Sheriff W.B. Melton said Cassidy would not be immediately returned to her mother.
"There's an investigation going on, related to the conditions of the home, and so we're going to turn her over to the Department of Children's Services," said Overton County Sheriff W.B. Melton.
There was a situation earlier this summer where Cassidy was taken out of the home, along with her five siblings because of what officials said were deplorable conditions in the couple's home.
Officials said all six of the children have been taken out of the mother's custody and put in DCS custody.
Allen Harness was charged with attempted first degree homicide.

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) – An Amber Alert issued in Middle Tennessee has ended in Dalton.
Dalton Police Spokesman Bruce Frazier says the missing 12-year-old girl, Cassidy Dailey, has been found unharmed.
A spokesperson with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says Cassidy's step-father, Allen Harness, abducted her in Overton County early Friday morning, after allegedly assaulting the girl's mother with a knife.
Frazier says a tip from an anonymous caller, who recognized the vehicle description given in the Amber Alert, led officers to Harness around 3:30 p.m.
The suspect was found at the Motel 6 on Chattanooga Road and arrested without incident, following a brief phone conversation with investigators.
Frazier says Harness will be taken to the Whitfield County Jail for booking, where he'll await extradition to Tennessee.
Dailey's mom was treated and released from an area hospital, according to Overton County Sheriff's Sergeant Jeremy Carr.

Re: CASSIDY DAILEY - 12 yo - Overton/ Mid-state TN
A man arrested Friday in Dalton, Ga., on charges of kidnapping his
stepdaughter from Overton County, Tenn., had four more charges added
later that day.
After Dalton police arrested Wayne Harness, 37, who was the subject
of an Amber Alert on Friday, they initially charged him with being a
fugitive.
Later, detectives added two counts each of aggravated child
molestation and statutory rape, according to Dalton Police spokesman
Bruce Frazier.
“We’re going to let him face the charges in Tennessee first,” Frazier
said, “and then we’ll bring him back, based on what the district
attorney decides.”
Current plans, Frazier said, are for Harness to be extradited to Tennessee on Monday.
