"Baby Jane" NORIEGA - 8 Months - Alamogordo NM

A 26-year-old Alamogordo woman was charged Friday
with first-degree child abuse after her 8-month-old daughter was found
unconscious on the woman's bed.
Alamogordo Department of Public
Safety detective Rodney Scharmack said Samantha Noriega is jailed on a
$50,000 no-10 percent bond at the Otero County Detention Center on one
count of first-degree child abuse resulting in great bodily harm or
death in the incident.
Noriega is scheduled to appear in Magistrate Court for a preliminary hearing at 8 a.m. Nov. 2.
Scharmack
said ADPS officers were called to Noriega's residence in the 800 block
of Travis Court to the unresponsive child who was not breathing.
He
said the infant was transported to Gerald Champion Regional Medical
Center and later airlifted to University Medical Center in El Paso due
to a brain hemorrhage.
Scharmack said the investigation showed the child was intentionally dropped multiple times, causing the infant's injury.
