The California Highway Patrol has issued an Amber Alert for a brother and sister
who may have been abducted in the Shasta County community of Anderson on Sunday.
Sgt. John Hubbard of the Shasta County
Sheriff's Department said the parents of Mya Sandoval, 5, and Michael
Sandoval, 7, asked April Joy Swartz to care for their children Sunday
afternoon while they tended to some personal business.
Swartz telephoned them a later and said she planned to take her three
children, all 5 years old and younger, fishing and asked if she could
take the Sandoval children along. The parents gave their permission, but
that was the last they heard from Swartz.
When she did not return with the children, Hubbard said, the parents reported the children missing.
Hubbard said Swartz was reportedly seen in the local area late Sunday
night and in the early morning hours today, and authorities have no
reason to believe that she has left Shasta County.
Mya Sandoval is described as white, 3 feet, 7 inches tall, with brown
hair and hazel eyes. Michael is described as white, 4 feet, 8 inches
tall, with blonde hair and blue eyes.
Swartz is described as white, 5 feet, 3 inches tall, weighing 120
pounds, with blonde hair and hazel eyes. Authorities said she may be
under the influence of a controlled substance. She was last seen driving
a white GMC Yukon with a Oklahoma license plate, number 118BZR.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Shasta County Sheriff's Department
at (530) 245-6135 or (530) 246-9620.

An Amber
alert issued Monday for a boy and girl taken by a neighbor was canceled
late Monday night after they were safely found in North Redding,
according to the Shasta County Sheriff's Department.
Michael, 7,
and Mya Sandoval, 5, had not been home since around 6 p.m. Sunday after a
fishing trip in the Redding area, according to emergency officials.
They were found in North Redding sometime before 11 p.m. Monday night, emergency officials said.
The suspect in the kidnapping, April Swartz, is the children's neighbor at the Balls Ferry Fishing Resort in Anderson.
