Missing teen girls may be in Portland
Authorities are growing increasingly concerned about the disappearance of two 14-year-old girls from Bonny Eagle High School.
Dominique Sproul
Rachel Fuller
Friends and family have not seen or heard from the girls, who are believed to be together, in nearly three days.
On Thursday afternoon, Buxton Police Chief Michael S. Grovo issued a
news release seeking the public's help in locating the missing teenagers.
Grovo said it appeared that Rachel Ann Fuller, of Buxton, and
Dominique Lee Sproul, of Limington, ran away sometime after classes
ended Tuesday afternoon. They did not have access to a motor vehicle.
"The investigation has led us to believe that they ran away," Grovo
said. "But my concern is their young age as well as their welfare and
safety." Grovo said he may contact the National Center for Missing and
Exploited Children today for assistance unless investigators get a more
substantial lead on the girls' whereabouts.
The investigation is a joint effort of the Buxton Police Department and the York County Sheriff's Department.
"We feel the girls are somewhere in the Portland area based on the
information that has turned up during our investigation," said Sgt. Ron
Lord of the sheriff's department. "The parents are really concerned for
their children."
Portland police went to the Occupy Maine encampment in Lincoln Park
on Thursday afternoon and Thursday night to check on a tip that the
girls had been seen there. But Lt. Robert Ridge said the police
walk-throughs did not produce any substantial leads.
Andrea Fuller, a single mother, said she last spoke with her daughter
around 2:40 p.m. Tuesday, after classes ended at Bonny Eagle.
"She called me (on her cellphone) when she got home from school and indicated she wanted to go out with friends," Fuller said.
Fuller, who had made plans to take Rachel to a Portland Pirates
hockey game that night, told her daughter to do her chores and wait at home until she arrived.
Three weeks ago, Fuller said she was forced to take disciplinary
measures against Rachel by taking away her cellphone privileges. Rachel
broke up with her boyfriend, a student at Scarborough High School, about one week ago.
"Freshman year has been tough," said Fuller, who lives alone with her daughter.
Since her disappearance, Fuller has been using her Facebook page
-- Andrea Temm Fuller -- as a means of communicating with people who
knew her daughter or who might know where she is.
Rachel is described as being 5 foot 4 inches tall and 150 pounds,
with shoulder-length brown hair, blue eyes and fair skin. She has nine ear piercings.
"Rachel hasn't called or texted me. She has never done anything like this before," Fuller said.
George Sproul, who is also a single parent, said his daughter, Dominique, has run away from home before, but not for this long.
"I'm beside myself," he said. "I've been calling everyone I can think of but no one has seen or heard from them."
Rachel had posted a message on another person's Facebook page about
the girls wanting to go to Massachusetts to visit Dominique's mother,
Deborah Desilva, but Sproul said police have confirmed that she is not there.
He last saw his daughter when she got on the school bus at 6:35 a.m. Tuesday.
Sproul is 5 feet 6 inches tall and 140 pounds with red hair and hazel eyes.
Anyone with information about the girls should contact Buxton police
at 929-6612 or the York County Sheriff's Department at 324-3644.
