A 29-year-old man accused of burning the face of the 2-year-old daughter of his girlfriend failed to show up for his sentencing and Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Matthew Switalski issued a bench warrant for his arrest.

Wayne Poore in October pleaded guilty to second-degree child abuse, punishable by up to five years in prison, for the incident in May 2010 when the girl was under his care in a Warren home. A nurse suspected the child suffered chemical burns. A charge of first-degree child abuse, punishable by up to 15 years in prison, will be dismissed under the plea deal.

Poore's attorney, Jonathan Jones, promised his client will cooperate and show up when his sentencing is rescheduled.
