West Branch Police are looking for Brittany
Safley-Prigge, 16, of West Branch, who was declared missing after she
was last seen about 6:30 a.m. Monday.
Police Chief Mike Horihan said
he saw video footage from Caseys General Store showing Safley-Prigge
making a phone call 6:30 a.m. Monday.
Horihan believes Safley-Prigge called someone to pick her up and that no foul play is suspected.
"We dont know for sure, bit possibly she could have left with a
friend," the police chief said. "She is clearly a runaway and doing this
with her own consent."
Safley-Prigge is a daughter of Ann Prigge of West Branch and Jeremiah Prigge of St. Charles, Minn.
Anyone with information about her whereabouts is asked to
contact the West Branch Police Department at 643-2222 or Cedar County
Sheriff at 563-886-2121.

WEST BRANCH – Two days after a 16-year-old West Branch girl was confirmed missing, family and friends commenced a search party, and are asking the community to help.
The face of West Branch High School student Brittany Safely-Prigge is being posted to every building in West Branch, according to her aunt, Erica Prigge. She was last seen wearing a black shirt, shorts, and coat, and moccasins, Prigge noted. The family has been knocking on doors Thursday, looking for answers.
School officials have been questioning students for any information regarding Safley-Prigge’s whereabouts, Prigge said, noting the family has reason to believe she’s still in town.
“We don’t know why she is not coming home,” Prigge said. “It’s cold and she has nowhere to go.”
According to Prigge, an elderly woman told police she let a young girl into her home on Thomas Street (which is across town from Safely-Prigge’s house) thinking it was her granddaughter. From 6:30 to 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, the girl rested in her basement, the woman later realizing it was not her granddaughter, but had apparently left the residence by the time police were notified, Prigge explained.
The woman described to police that the girl was wearing similar clothing to the missing teen, except instead this person had been wearing black pants.
According to a Facebook page, the girl was last seen making a phone call at the Casey’s, 311 E Main St., at 6:30 a.m. Monday in downtown West Branch. West Branch police said in a release that Safley-Prigge had a disagreement with her mother, Ann, just before she left her home.
Police believe no foul play is not suspected. Safley-Prigge was classified as a runaway as of Thursday morning, West Branch police Chief Mike Horihan said.
“Having said that we don’t know what could’ve happened afterwards,” he added, noting their investigation on the case is continuing.
The public is asked by the family to join them in continuing their search party at 5 p.m. at the West Branch Police Station, 105 South 2nd St.
“We just need help,” Prigge said. “West Branch is supposed to be a community that helps [...] If this was their child they would want the same thing.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact the West Branch Police Department, at 319-643-2222 or the Cedar County Sheriff’s Department, at 563-886-2123.
