Casey Anthony: Defense wants Jeff Ashton to justify actions, takes swipe at book

Jeff Ashton’s “Imperfect Justice” continues to make headlines.
In newly filed documents, Casey Anthony’s defense team is asking the former prosecutor to justify why he shouldn’t be held in contempt of court, Central Florida News 13 reported this afternoon.
In his best-selling book, Ashton discussed contents of Anthony’s mental- health evaluations — and offered some of the most revealing information about the case. Ashton wrote that Anthony, in interviews with two mental-health experts, accused her father of killing Caylee Anthony. In July, Casey Anthony was acquitted of murder in her daughter’s death.
The prosecution scoffed at the accusation against George Anthony, and it never made it to trial. Yet the revelation in the book gave a chilling insight into Anthony.
Anthony’s defense highlights that the mental-health evaluations had been sealed by Chief Judge Belvin Perry. The defense statement reads: “Mr. Ashton has published a book which further reveals the contents of the sealed depositions. Whether this violation was purposeful or simply a result of Imperfect Memory, an objection violation of this court’s order has occurred.”
How do you like the “Imperfect Memory” reference, a swipe at Ashton’s title?
