Name withheld girl - 14 yo - Sanford FL
A 14-year-old girl missing from her Seminole County foster home since Wednesday suffers from mental illness and may be in considerable danger, her former guardians said Friday.
The girl, whose name is being withheld for privacy reasons, failed to
return home from school Wednesday afternoon and has not been seen since,
according to an email from her foster-care case worker. Although the Sanford Police Department
has been notified and an officer assigned to the case, a spokesman said
investigators have no concrete information on the girl's whereabouts
and that the department cannot issue an Amber Alert because she is
believed to be a runaway.
"We're just worried sick that
she's out there," said her former guardian, Eva Marie Everson of Casselberry,
who raised the girl from the time she was 2 until she was hospitalized a
year ago. "She is alone, she is afraid and she is 14."
The
teen is about 5 feet, 5 inches tall, about 110 pounds with long blond
hair and blue-green eyes. She was last seen wearing skinny jeans,
possibly a red shirt and tennis shoes, and carrying a thin black
backpack with little hearts on it.
Sanford Police spokesman Sgt. David Morgenstern said a
be-on-the-lookout (BOLO) alert had been issued to all officers with the girl's
name, date of birth and photo, but that an Amber Alert is reserved for
cases where there is compelling evidence that a child has been abducted.
Still, the former guardians are questioning whether enough is being
done to find the child, who they say has been diagnosed with several
mental health problems, including bipolar disorder and borderline personality disorder. Everson's husband and friends have been searching the neighborhood and passing out fliers.
"How is it they have not notified media and put her picture on the news?" Everson asked.
At Community Based Care of Seminole, the nonprofit child-welfare agency
contracted by the state's Department of Children and Families to manage
foster children cases, CEO Glen Casel said he was deeply concerned but
that his agency is following protocol by reporting it to law
enforcement.
"We take a missing child very seriously," Casel said, "just as if it were our own child."
If you see this girl, police ask that you call 911 and report her location.

So, SPD, lemme see if I have got this, your way...
You want to me to BOLO this girl who has some serious competency issues but you are not going to give me her name so she's scared as eff when I approach her and say, "Hey you! Come here!".
Secondarily, you are NOT going to issue an AA because she's a "runaway'"???
Hello? McFly???
She is an effing MINOR with competency problems!!! Look at this girl and tell me the first predator who crosses her path is not going to abscond with her in a NY minute....sheesh, they sure grow some foolish ones in that state.

OMG you are so right Tom.
Hello, is anybody home?
Our state seems to get stupider and stupider as far as children, especially endangered children are involved.

Her "mental illness" may well be the result of the way she is being treated by DCF and the foster home in which she was placed.

A 14-year-old girl missing from her Seminole County foster home since Wednesday has been found safe, Sanford police said Saturday.
The teen had failed to return home from school Wednesday afternoon. A police spokesman didn't say where she was found, but said she was "in good physical and mental health."
"Our investigation revealed that she left on her accord," Sgt. David Morgenstern said. "At this time there is no evidence of criminal wrong-doing associated with this incident."
The girl was returned to the care of Community Based Care, a nonprofit child-welfare agency contracted by the Department of Children and Families to manage foster-child cases.
The teen's name was withheld by authorities for privacy reasons. Because she was believed to be a runaway, the state's Amber Alert system was not utilized in this case.
