Padilla Wants to Buy Land Where Remains Found
1:30 p.m. Karen Wonsetler, the attorney who represents the Chickasaw Oaks Phase Three Homeowners Association, said the community is "absolutely against" the bounty hunter's idea to turn the land into a memorial for Caylee Marie.
Padilla said he has made a $50,000 offer on the land, which is for sale, but hasn't heard back from the real estate agent. Padilla said the property owner is asking $89,000 for the tract.
Padilla wants the site to be a memorial for Caylee, whose remains were found there in December.

Re: Padilla Wants to Buy Land Where Remains Found
This is an
emotional issue with good points from people on all sides.
The points I think of are - Caylee did not die at the wooded spot on Suburban
Dr. - she most likely died in the Anthony home - but the Anthonys have no
trouble continuing to live there.
Caylee was thrown out like trash on Suburban Dr., and I see efforts to
transform the spot from a dump site into a beautiful area for children to play,
in memory of a beautiful young life, as a good thing. I believe that Padilla's
intentions are honorable. He personally really cared for Caylee and wanted
desperately to find her. I believe he wants to see something good come out of
such a horrible event.
Somebody is going to buy the property and do something with it .... why not let
it be something for the community in this world that has embraced Caylee and
want to express their love for her in some tangible way.
I believe that Mark Klaas and NG and other crime victims are in a different
category than Casey Anthony or even the Anthony family. I personally do not
care if the Anthonys (any of them) have a problem with anything that is done at
the site where Caylee's remains were found (in spite of all their efforts to
prevent her from being found). IMO

Hi Thinker, I'm sorry but I still have doubts about LP's motives and sincerity. He offered an amount that he knows will be rejected by the vendors, so it looks to me like just another publicity stunt. I note that it got him back in the news....and he hasn't had to spend a cent. If he is genuine, then he should make a genuine offer IMO.The_Thinker wrote:

My personal feelings is that LP's heart is in the right place. Caylee touched him as she touched us. Whether it be for publicity or not I don't care. In todays economy..his offer just may be taken. I for one hope it is, as I believe he will make it into something in Caylee's memory. I also believe he is a giver and not a taker. He hasn't made any money off of anything he has done for Caylee. This is just my opinion.kiwimom wrote:Hi Thinker, I'm sorry but I still have doubts about LP's motives and sincerity. With respect, do you really think he hasn't made any money? Do you think he had a contract to appear on NG for free? Don't you think he has helped his TV career? He has offered almost 45% less than the asking price for the land, and I assume the vendors have priced it in line with todays economy. Let's see if he really does buy it and prove me wrong.NanaMichele wrote:My personal feelings is that LP's heart is in the right place. Caylee touched him as she touched us. Re: Padilla Wants to Buy Land Where Remains Found
My 2 cents...The land is a swampy dump. I think it probably assessed around 85,000 (isn't that what they said it was worth?) but I can't see who would pay that for it. I kinda doubt anything much can really be done with it. Sounds like $50 grand is fair. JMOkiwimom wrote:With respect, do you really think he hasn't made any money? Leonard will have a fight on his hands if proceeds
I am like some here...not sure if LP motives are innocent...and, I do know HE SAID that he got $50,000 in donations after the BP park seach to come back in DEC...then, Caylee was found...what happened to that $50,000...might be the the $50,000 he just offered which was a lowball offer...and rumor is seller declined...???? Neighbors aren’t likely to applaud Padilla’s idea to buy the land and turn it into a permanent memorial.
Attorney Karen Wonsetler, who represents the Chickasaw Oaks Phase Three Homeowners Association, said the community is “absolutely against” the bounty hunter’s plans.
“If we have a shrine literally in the middle of our association, it’s going to encourage unwanted traffic, unwanted attention,” she said. “We do not want this.”
