The GUERRERO-LOPEZ Children - 9, 7 and 5 yo/ Non-Custodial Parent - Caldwell ID/ NV alerted

Caldwell police are asking for the public’s help in tracking
down three children apparently taken by their non-custodial mother.
An Amber Alert was activated early Sunday morning.



Officials are looking for Bertha Guerrero-Lopez, 35.
According to a release, Guerrero-Lopez picked up her three children from a
Caldwell foster home about 3 p.m. Friday. She failed to return them at
the scheduled time of 3 p.m. Saturday.
Police say Guerrero-Lopez has a history of drug use and makes frequent trips to Las Vegas, Nevada.
Police believe Guerrero-Lopez is driving an older model two-tone grey
Oldsmobile sedan with Nevada license plates. She is described as
5-feet-1-inches tall, 135 pounds.
The Amber Alert says Guerrero-Lopez is traveling with Ubaldo Guerrero-Lopez Jr., 9, Mirella
Guerrero-Lopez 7, and Esmerelda Guerrero-Lopez, 5.

Bertha Alicia Guerrero-Castro lost custody of her children to the State
of Idaho and the children were turned over to Health and Welfare.
Bertha picked up her children for visitation and was supposed to return
them at 3pm on February 18, 2012, and never did. Bertha has a residence
in Nevada. She has previous history of drug abuse and child
abandonment.

Update: Bertha Sabala Guerrero was pulled over Saturday for a
minor traffic violation. There were conflicting reports whether the
children were in the car with her or not. Originally, it was reported
that the kids were not in the car. However, a FBI spokesperson
confirmed tonight that all three kids were in the backseat during the
traffic violation. At that time, an Amber Alert had not been activated.

PHOENIX - Authorities say three kids missing from Caldwell in a
custody squabble may be in the Phoenix metropolitan area on the way to
Mexico.

The FBI in Salt Lake City says an Amber Alert was issued Sunday morning for a 9-year-old boy and two girls, ages 5 and 7.

KIVI-TV and KNIN-TV talked to Catalina Godina, the foster mother of
the three kids. She said the biological mother, Bertha Sabala Guerrero,
has family in Arizona. She also said law enforcement has not updated
them with additionally information.

Guerrero lost custody of the three children last December after
authorities say she left them with a woman she had just met. They were
placed in foster care in Caldwell. Godina said when she gained custody
of the children, they were very polite but showed signs of neglect.

Authorities say Guerrero picked up the children for a 24-hour visitation
Friday and failed to return them the following day. Caldwell police
have obtained an arrest warrant for Guerrero for custodial interference.

Guerrero was pulled over on Saturday for a minor traffic violation.

BOISE, ID (CBS5/AP) - A woman and her three children
who are at the center of an Idaho Amber Alert are likely in Arizona and
perhaps headed to Mexico, the FBI said.

Authorities are renewing their plea to Arizona residents to be on the lookout
for the kids who police say weren't returned to their foster home in
southwest Idaho after a visit with their non-custodial mother.

"We are still actively looking for them in Arizona and Nevada and realize
they could perhaps already be in Mexico," FBI Salt Lake City
spokeswoman Debbie Bertram said Thursday.

The Amber Alert was issued in Idaho Sunday morning after police in
Caldwell said 35-year-old Bertha Alicia Guerrero-Lopez didn't return the
children at the scheduled time of 3 p.m. Saturday.

"The investigative focus is in Phoenix," said Deborah Bertram, a spokesman
for the FBI in Salt Lake City. "The concern would be that she would try
to get herself and the kids over to Mexico. The most important issue for
us right now is focusing on that lead."

Authorities said Guerrero-Lopez has a home in Nevada and a history of drug abuse and child abandonment.
She is described as 5'1" tall, 139 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

Police say they may be traveling in a gray or silver 1986 Pontiac 6000 four-door sedan with Nevada license plate number 389XPR.

The children are 9-year-old Ubaldo Guerrero-Lopez Jr., 7-year-old Mirella Guerrero-Lopez and 5-year-old Esmerelda Guerrero-Lopez.

Oh brother. I hope they find this POS mother and save those kids before she gets to Mexico. With her record, they will definately end up being harmed if they aren't found.

They will probably have extra careful checks at the border crossing. If she makes it to Mexico, we may never know what happens to those poor children.

SALT LAKE CITY -- Detectives with the Caldwell Police Department and special agents of the FBI Salt Lake City Division have developed new information today in the disappearance of three Idaho children, who were taken last week by their non custodial mother.

Investigative leads confirm all four crossed into Mexico as early as Sunday evening.

A witness says the three children appeared to be unharmed and with their mother.

They drove across the border in a grey, four-door, Pontiac 6000 with Nevada license plate number 389XPR.

This is the same vehicle they left Idaho in. Law enforcement continues to search for all four, however due to this new information the police department have requested that the Amber Alerts in Idaho and Nevada be cancelled.

The three children, who were living in foster care in Caldwell, Idaho, were taken by their non custodial mother, 35-year old Bertha Sabala Guerrero last weekend.

Media and the public in several states were alerted to the disappearance of the children, 5-year-old Esmerelda Guerrero-Lopez (female), 7-year-old Mirella Guerrero-Lopez (female), and 9-year-old Ubaldo Guerrero-Lopez Jr. (male).

The investigation shows Guerrero drove through Nevada and Arizona to cross into Mexico.

Detectives with the Caldwell Police Department and FBI special agents continue to investigate this case. A state arrest warrant was issued in Idaho for Guerrero that allows for nationwide extradition.
